Israel’s Swift Victory – Again!

A good friend of mine in New York sent me an old 1967 Life Magazine entitled “Israel’s Swift Victory.” It is dedicated to the Six Day War for Jerusalem from a photographic perspective. I didn’t know beforehand what the package contained. When I opened it, I almost fell over in shock and awe.
It contained the exact very dramatic pictures that back in those days, influenced me greatly to become a photographer and journalist, specialising in wars and conflicts.
This particular magazine and its incredible photographs were also part of my awakening to Israel, although this war was long before I was saved in 1976. I spent about 20 years or so in that world, covering many wars and winning numerous awards.
Now, here I sit with some of my foundational “bricks” before me again. What memories!
Guns, rockets, cameras and a Bible: The image below is a compilation of the Life Magazine cover, I referred to above, and pictures I took during the Angolan war, and an inset of me with my Hasselblad camera & 500mm lens on shoulder. Many of these experiences were part of the reason for my conversion and the “Bible”, which was later to replace the cameras:
The 1967 Six Day War for Jerusalem was a war against all odds, with the forces stacked heavily against Israel. But the Jews were fighting for their very existence, against hordes of Arab armies wanting to destroy them. Israel was acting defensively from instinct, but it was instinct placed there by God.
Israeli pleas for peace ended in sudden war. Tragic memories of the barbed-wire and gas ovens of Auschwitz, not far behind, were here again. Battles raged across the Suez, Sinai, Gaza and Jerusalem. Sky-bound soldiers and sea-borne sailors sent up clouds of explosives screaming “death” to all in their path.
Troops, tanks, bullets, and missiles roared like a lion across the land, with Jerusalem of gold, the high prize, the heavenly prize from God Himself.
Rigor-mortis rose in the desert, next to dead tanks and steaming skeletons of war machines. Egypt’s flying aces lay like futile, vile vultures of war, “shipwrecked” and scattered on runways, struck down before they could rise, by Israel’s rag-tag young airmen, barely battle-ready.

The pride of Lucifer, Esau, Ishmael and Islam was dealt a severe blow by Israel’s miraculous victory and the liberation of Jerusalem into the hands of God’s choosing.
Death and destruction came swiftly to the enemies of Israel, who in their thick ignorance knew not what they were doing. You die if you try to destroy Israel. You become foolhardy fodder and food for vultures and press photographers.
The Western Wall wailed secretly as massive bullets etched and incised patterns of violence across her ancient stones. Many came to kiss the bricks of ancient sculptured rock, hoping to get a response in kind. As the war ended the walls of truth kissed the people of victory. (Psalm 85:10)
Now, Jerusalem is in the shining spotlight again.
Yesterday, (14th May) was the anniversary of Israel’s independence and formation as a nation, in one miraculous day, (Isaiah 66:8) as the League of Nations (forerunner to the UN) gave their approval, only to see Israel attacked by numerous invading Arab armies the very next day, in what became known as the ‘War of Independence.”
We are on the verge of the annexation of Samaria and Judea, with US approval, which will cause a huge uproar in the Arab world, and the rest of the world. You would think they would have learned!
Covid or not, Israel, Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and surroundings are all about to blast onto the world stage again and become food for good press photographers.
►You may ask, why this report in the midst of the virus pandemic? They’re all related my friends. The virus is a forerunner of the deadly horse of death, plagues, disease and coming as the tribulation begins. (Revelation 6)
But one of the four riders of the apocalypse is of war. This refers to war for Israel, Jerusalem, and against the Jews, soon to be saved. If there are forerunners to the riders, war is one of them. It’s just a matter of time – a very short time, before war will burst onto the present day stage. It will be perhaps in days, most certainly within a few months. Bear in mind that Israel was reborn on May 14th. Her spiritual birth is the next huge item on God’s calendar.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 “I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you and you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all of your heart.”
Israel is ultimately invincible! How do I know? Check the end of The Good Book.
►Talking of a good book, I have just read the new book by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn entitled “The Oracle”. It is a great overview of God’s plan for Israel, including the wars I’ve mentioned, and more exciting things to come. It is excellent and highly recommended.

“The Walls of Jerusalem”
Ancient stones are whispering silent soliloquies, among the sun-burnt walls. Corner-stones of spiritual stability and strength, still stand secure, riddled with holes of the ancient hatred’s bullets, and stained with dried blood of ages past, and present times too.
These stones of Jerusalem’s protection are stones of separation – holy, immovable stones, seemingly dead, but breathing life of living history. The moss-dripping masonry are milestones, with living, green twigs in crags - walls of ruined relics, written into eternity’s word.
Listen to the stones; put your ear to the walls of wisdom. Do you hear the cries of the dead? Do you hear the shrieks of celebration? Do you hear the rocks, the great carved boulders, and the pebbles, anointed with glorious and fearful prophecy?
The scarred stones of poetic justice are again announcing judgement soon to fall. The ancient stones are echoing the warnings of God. No other city-stones speak thus.
Sin's offering, the offspring of evil, will soon yield frightful fruit: Fear, horror, terror and panic. Even the beautiful aged stones of Jerusalem will shiver and shake under earth’s soon quaking!
Yet the calm, confident, contentment of fearless holiness, and eternal beauty will stand secure amongst the strain and stress of destruction's dread.
Sin’s eternal separation from the victory and glory-producing suffering of Calvary will soon be the shock of all shocks to the sin-filled world of self-worship.
Do you see the lion on the wall? Do you hear the eternal Lion, and His severe message? Do you hear God’s trumpets under His Lion’s feet and in His roar?
Can you distinguish between the Lion of God and the roaring counterfeit lion frightening only the spiritually frightened and fragile?
Sound the trumpet! Sound the glistening terrible trumpet. Sound the trumpet of ingathering. Sound the trumpet of great victory! The world’s blinded ears see nothing – fools of tragic fools - deceived in the midst of God’s shining love – rejected!
Sound the trumpet! Sound David’s harp, and raise the golden sword of glorious victory!
The sword of Satan has pierced the Shepherd, but soon the Shepherd’s sword shall strike the roaring serpent and the people will scatter to a certain hell, with all the sin-filled nations drowning in their doomed sin. Babylon’s man-made, imposter-made,confused bricks of mortar will be no more.
Sound the trumpet. Raise the alarm, raise the sword of glory, and roar, Lion of Judah - roar! Awaken your people from fateful slumber, to their coming Lamb.
The stonework of the stonemasons of Jerusalem speaks of salvation past, present, and soon to come. The stones of Jerusalem contain a living message, a message of life, eternal life, freely given but of utmost cost and glorious value.
But you must bow your head to the speak of these sculptured, weathered virtues. You must fall on your face in the dust before the message of these rocks of ages. As you do, salvation speaks, and soon shouts, lighting the core of your life with unquenchable, immortal fire – the fire of God!
These old speaking stones sing a new song of stern severity, of great gravity. They are sharp, hard stones, but soft and gentle to His own. They are stones of solid prophecy. They will fall on and crush the nations. They speak of things to come, and very soon too.
As we see the spectacular, dramatic, majestic message of the walls of Jerusalem, Let’s take a glimpse into the exclusive, holy, eternity of eternities:
There will be stones of pure silver, streets of glorious gold. All around, imbedded in gates and walls, always open, will be unimaginable jewels. They will be jasper, sapphire, emerald, pearls, topaz, beryl, amethyst, rubies, diamonds, and more.
There will be no sun or moon - the light of God’s glory will be everywhere, forever – always.
There will be the tree of life, next to crystal rivers, each tree yielding fruit once a month and there shall be no more curse! Lions shall be your friends.
The army of the Lord will now be the bride of Messiah, bedecked in righteousness, with incorruptible crowns of untarnished magnificence, ready - forever and ever.
Isaiah 9:7 “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end...”
The Lion of lions, the Lamb of God, the sword of pure peace, will be our very comfort and eternal grace. Stones once silent, will serenade and sing with a song of songs and a descant that will reverberate through the universe.
Are you ready for the great grandeur - the glory to come?
