So... I'm hoping for an acquittal ASAP. Today would be great.

The Democrats did what they had to do. They impeached Trump for his abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. That alone restores faith in the party with their supporters knowing they can trust them to do the right thing. No one is expecting them to do the impossible.

And to the Republicans... Well, thank you for everything! Not only did you produced a treasure trove of quotes and arguments that can be used against you for years to come, but you avoided Trump's removal from office which would have made a "martyr" of him while leaving us with Pence. Ugh!

Far better to vote the clown off the island in November! This is what Pelosi kept saying all those other times she resisted the demand to impeach. I wonder if she knew McConnell would do anything to keep Trump in office.

Meanwhile, over the course of the trial, Trump's approval rating has declined and the elections are only 11 months away. It really couldn't be any better.

So, let's wrap this up!

Couldn’t be better? Biden? It could be a LOT better. We need to ask ourselves why the best won’t step forward and instead we’ll just have more politics as usual with Biden. He isn’t capable of righting this country.

You folks keep saying that. You sound almost as assured as the Democrats were in 2016. ;)

Look, I'm not making any predictions about the future... All, I'm saying is that it would be better to let the people remove Trump from office through an election than to have Congress remove him through impeachment.

What I WILL say about the November elections is that current stats (including polls and voter registrations) indicate a Republican win in 2020 would be more of an upset than a guarantee but anything can happen right?

Will I be hit hard by it if Trump wins a second term? Probably not. I've never been dependent on the government for much and I'm a straight white male with a fair amount of cash in the bank. I might be disappointed in the election but then again, I am pretty certain that the economy will take a dive within the next 5 years and I'm going to love watching Trump deal with a real problem for the first time in his life.

I would go so far as to say that even better than an impeachment now... even better than a defeat in November, would be the exposure of his incompetence in the face of an actual crisis, if it takes another term to get there - it would almost be worth it, just so I can log back in and say... "I told you so".

Dude.... No...

That's not something anyone should ever root for...

Seriously... I'm glad you're doing well and taking care of your people....

Hope I continues...

I hope never to see another 2008...

Stay strong...

You could have heard those witnesses but your pals in the House refused to listen !

In an impeachment process the House presents the evidence and the Senate judges that evidence and then votes to convict or acquit plain and simple !

Clearly the House failed and they know it , so they now want the Senate to do what they failed to do !

LW you and the house Dems really don't want a fair trial you all want Trump removed my any means that you can makes no difference if they have have to lie cheat or do anything even if it means doing it illegally !

You and your pals are all losers that can't stand it that you lost an election you rigged and investigation you rigged then made up every kind of garbage bribery , collusion , abuse of power !

I wonder what else you and your pals can think up !

Sounds like you'd rather still be under the Obama economy and having Hillary to have continued it even further !

Maybe you shouldn't spend so much time listening to CNN as it seems your so pessimistic it's no wonder folks are so unhappy and it sounds like you'd love to have the economy to crash just so Trump can still look bad !

As a farmer who has seen more than likely more ups and downs as you have I was born an optimistic and have survived to an old age !

I've found that optimistic people are more fun to be with than all the pessimistic folks that always downers !

A concession to being on the corrupted and losing end still?

The honorable 45th President of the Republic will be reelected.

Because of your subterfuge heroes.

True Americans hate people who support treasonous villains posing as patriots.

Maybe your could form a reinvigorated mob of sky screamers to party down with come November..

Because We the People will still be winning.

Sorry...have to go with straight up on this one.

We know the outcome. Let's just get there. The future of the country is at stake, as you say (but then it always is, right?), and I have faith the American people have seen enough to weigh the alternatives. Since the President has publicly called for foreign interference in American elections, it doesn't surprise that he would do so in specific instances. Witnesses won't change what we already know.

The Dems did what they had to do, and the Reps are doing what they are going to do...I'm looking forward to November.

Well, you ask a really good question Rose...

I look at the field (Trump AND the Democratic candidates) and I can't help but ask the same question. I think ANY of the Democratic candidates can do better than Trump but that isn't really saying much. I think Biden has the experience and the connections to bring America back to its former place as a respected player in world politics (we kinda lost that under Trump), but if you're talking about the domestic reforms that the American people desperately need then, we probably DO need someone less moderate and that presents a problem I'm not sure America is ready for... It gets back to your concern about "righting" America. I honestly don't think Americans can agree on what that even means.

I think we've been dealing with "same-old politics" from moderate politicians for so long simply because we can't agree on ANY real change. The last domestic reform was the ACA and THAT turned into a bitter war that crossed all kinds of lines.

I'm not so sure Biden will be the nominee. I think this set of Democratic primaries is as wide open as the Republican primaries of 2016. Someone outside of the top tier could still sneak into the nomination.
I think we're in for an interesting couple of months.

Many of Obama's people are pushing and pumping for Bootigieg to accomplish just what you say.

Doubt it, but that's why we play the game.

Unless the President wins the popular vote an electoral college victory puts us right back where we are now. I suspect the House will turn bluer because that's where the popular majority will win out. The Senate isn't out of play either I suspect. We'll see when those races come into better focus.

Also, many folks forget to think about local races. In 2016 and 2018 Democrats picked up over 300+ seats in state, county, and local elections. As Archie Bunker pointed out, even in a state like Texas the blue areas are starting to reach into those governments. Same is true in N. Carolina. In both states cities are starting to assert themselves for influence on policies that effect them.

A Trump re-election would not necessarily mean a vindication of Trumpism. It could be a quirky outcome of our system, while resistance could strengthen.

I'm safe behind a blue wall, so I ain't askaird of November.
Hope you're well and safe. I'm curious if you're worried about the virus and considering plans?
