In 1973, my college tuition at William Paterson College was $440 per year... Today, tuition at William Paterson University (yes, all the 4 year State Colleges in New Jersey are now Universities) is $13,000 per year... That's almost 30 times greater today than in 1973...
In 1973, the average house cost $34,000... Today, the average house costs $315,000... That's 9 times greater today than in 1973...
A college education cost tuition inflated to 30 times as much, but the most expensive expense the average college graduate will have in their lifetime - a house - will have inflated 9 times as much...
And see if you believe today's college costs are worth this outlandish cost...

In 1971 the state and federal government covered in excess of two thirds of such universities budgets, today it is roughly a quarter in some instances less. Our parents generation understood the value of higher education and elected people who supported it. The generation of greed doesn't afford the same opportunity to young people instead saddling them with a lifetime of debt.
LOL. Exactly why the cost of education has exploded dunce. If colleges can get govt. funding there is no incentive to curb costs. Many of these colleges have millions in endowments. They supply worthless degrees and charge exorbitant prices. You’d fit in well.

The cost of college has increased at a rate similar to the inflation rate, it is the cost born by students that has skyrocketed.

Artificial tuition inflation by the college's. They know how easy it is to get student loans so they raise prices accordingly.
Of course, there are those crazy people who get a college degree and have no student loans....they participated in an excellent program called "work".
