Trying to say Hillary won is not taking into account that Trump didn’t even bother to campaign in California. I imagine a lot of Republicans don’t even bother to vote there. Loooong story short. I went to a Clinton rally when I was on vacation in California visiting family. I looked that woman in the eye. My flesh crawled so bad that I decided to vote Trump.

I have never questioned the legitimacy of either the electoral college nor the Trump presidency.
My point was directed at the assertion that Mr. Trump and his supporters speak for the American people. They speak for a large segment, yes, but I will continue to remind Trump and supporters that a larger number of folks voted against Mr Trump than for him. Just like 'patriotism' and the flag, the term 'American people' is being corrupted into a right wing meme.
It is demonstrably false to claim that President Trump speaks for the American people. He speaks for the US because he has the office, but in the only poll that mattered more folks voted against him. His approval/disapproval ratings have been steady since then with higher disapproval.
The problems of the Trump Administration are self inflicted: a minority government trying to rule as if it had a mandate. People also matter, not just the electoral college. The 40m Californians are just as important as the 40m (rough est.) of the Rocky Mountain and Plains states. At least in the House.
'The American people' are more than a meme. The folks who didn't vote for him don't just disappear.
