Trump: Some Welfare Recipients Make More Than Person Working Their "Ass Off"

The decimator of fake news is at it again. What Trump didn't tell you was that the majority of people on welfare ARE working their ass off. They receive welfare because, even though working, they still don't earn enough to keep their heads above the poverty level. Yes, "some" people on welfare might be making more than someone working but that only points to the need to raise the minimum wage--something that hasn't been raised since George Bush was president.

This is nothing more than our Christian president attacking the poor and doing because, as a CC, he doesn't like them very much and that's just SAD...

President Donald Trump delivered remarks on tax reform Wednesday in St. Charles, Missouri. Trump also spoke about welfare reform and said he has met people who are on welfare, do not "work at all," and make more money than a person who is "working his and her ass off."

From his remarks:

PRESIDENT TRUMP: And by the way, what happened, what happened, is Obama took a long time, years to get Obamacare, right? Again, 10 months. We've had two runs at it. We're coming closer, closer. I think now we have a plan that's going to be great. But we're not talking about it until after taxes, and then we'll take care of health care.

Then we will have done tax cuts, the biggest in history, health care, phenomenal health care. I know you don't want this -- welfare reform. Does anyone want welfare reform?

And infrastructure. But welfare reform, I see it, and I've talked to people. I know people that work three jobs and they live next to somebody who doesn't work at all. And the person who is not working at all and has no intention of working at all is making more money and doing better than the person that's working his and her ass off. And it's not going to happen. Not going to happen.

In Hawaii one gets around $60,000 a year on welfare, not bad, I may move there. For 150 years there was no welfare, America did very well that way, now we have scum bums all over the place.

This is very true. When I was raising my kids a welfare mom had 4 kids upstairs from me. She got free rent, free food, free medical, free clothes, free school supplies, free Christmas presents for her kids, free classes for herself and free daycare for her youngest so she could attend said classes. Plus $$ benefits. Oh, BTW, last I heard (10 years or so ago) shes STILL on the dole.....

And some public servants enrich themselves at the public trough with an outrageous pension. The number of people who do this is minimal, whether it is welfare or pensions, but one is one too many. None of this is hate, the first reason you always throw out there. You are the one who is hateful.

Reform is needed, however, whenever legislators try to fix a problem, they create 2 or 3 new problems with horrendous unintended consequences. In almost every case of "fixing" a problem that I've observed, they ended up throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Here's a thought; why don't agencies that handle the various forms of welfare, get off their lazy asses and go LOOK at where the recipient lives, see how many people live there and whether they're all on welfare and/or working, see where the recipient works and verify incomes, look to see if the recipient is receiving other types of welfare AND look at how the recipient is spending their welfare.

I think the rules are probably ok.............it's the laziness and intransigence of bureaucracies that are the problem.

Agree completely!! Few government employees actually do their jobs - top to bottom. It's why they're so bloated and expensive. It takes 4 or 5 government employees to do the same job 1 privately employed person does. Cuz there's no consequences to the government employee....IMO

What's sad, even alarming, is that you may even believe this posting. You have no familiarity with the most fundamental law of economics - the law of supply & demand.

In 1980, there was a study in Boston that concluded that an able bodied man making $20,000 a year, needed to only give up the benefits of $1,500. to be on total government aid.

I live in Hawaii. The number you posted is self serving drivel. Total benefits available are highest in this state mostly due to the high cost of living, particularly housing. In order to reach the maximum amount you would need Section 8 housing and have one or more infant children plus be a single income household making 10k per year and other factors.
Don’t come here. The homeless haole bum population is a growing blight on these beautiful islands.

Recently my best friend told me that Trudeau had upped the benefits for families with children... He is now receiving $800 a month for his two kids.... And he already brings in around $60,000 a year after taxes...

I asked him how the economy could support this (families that make less get way more )... He just laughed and pointed out that the Liberals had no intention lowering the debt... In fact, in his acceptance speech in October, Trudeau proudly pointed out that our debt was going to continue to grow until at least 2040 under his illustrious leadership

As a taxpayer funding these poor people,I would at least expect mandatory drug-testing before helping them through this unfair world. And if weed is legal where they live, like booze and smokes,it shouldn't be obtainable with public dollars. We need to start somewhere.

Well, at least hes honest about it US liberals try to pretend the "rich" will pay for it. When simple math tells you that's impossible. It'll be on the backs of the middle class. As usual....
