An unbiased reading of the article you highlight does not refute that liberals aren't behind most of the mass gun attacks, though it is correct to say liberals are not responsible for all of the deadly instances. For instance after instance, they do not dispute that the perpetrator was a liberal or Democrat voter... but hedged the comment to state that political motivations weren't behind their action (??). Are we to conclude they just had a "mental disease" (ala Michael Savage)?
The right wing perpetrators no more represent mainstream GOP attitudes than the identified Liberal attackers represent the majority of Democrats. If you wonder why there is more attention/accusations thrown to the liberal perps, then compare it to the attitudes evident when either a conservative or a liberal are caught in a sex scandal. Conservatives are generally roasted, while there are just snickers when a liberal does the same. It comes down to public expectations.
Liberals generally champion gun controls (even confiscation in some instances) and non-violent approaches to problem solving. So when a liberal is behind a violent act, particularly with a gun, there is more attention to it. With conservative approaches to guns, the public doesn't see hypocrisy at work.
