When I first joined OPP, I mentioned that my hobby is as a DJ, in a virtual community called Second Life!.. Some folks refer to it as a "game" hell I did when I first got to this place.. To me it is what I said, a Virtual Community, with People from ALL over the world..

I have been a "live dj" in Second Life for bout 11.5 years..I mostly play blues and all it's sub genres!!... you will see in the body of this post, it refers to second life as "SL"..
So without Further Ado.. lol... Hell for all I know someone in OPP could possible identify with this in some way..Keeping in mind that I received this from someone else, I didn't write it.. But can at times relate!.. Name of the "venue" I spin at is called, FogBound Blues.. been there a long time...

I got this from someone in SL and I thought it would be a good conclusion to the essay. Its humorous... but it does have a lot of points that are real... This is about US folks.... the DJs.... those that have to deal with the people, especially in a live situation :)

I totally dig it when somebody requests 7 songs from the same band and rushes you to play them back to back! No, it's ok... hold your old school tape recorder up to SL as I play all 12 tracks from the latest slipknot CD you cheap twat! Oh, you want the 3 bonus tracks too? Sure! :)

It makes my day when a listener decides to get on voice chat and hoot and holler over my music, and oh golly gee gosh, it makes me super happy when they laugh hysterically, and slap their desk, and yell at the top of their lungs in local chat as I announce the next song, and the person who requested it...

Oh, thanks for the IM letting me know you didn't hear your request because you went to take a piss and stopped along the way back to grab something from the kitchen... SURE I can play it again fatass, hold on let me pick up my tip jar first, because I sincerely doubt I will be needing that! :)

I abso-fukin'-lutely LOVE it when you're spinning an all rock set, and somebody requests Eminem, or an all funk set and somebody requests Cannibal Corpse. Thank you!

AS a DJ, I am able to read minds.. YES, It's true! So... when you tell me you want to hear that song... by that chick.... and she sings about how she's important.....and how she's sad.... and frustrated...don't you WORRY!! :) I'll get that Fall Out Boy song on for you in 3!

I think it's groovy when I spin at a place called... oh, I don't know... "Rock Forever" and I get cussed at in text for not spinning Ibiza Techno! First of all, you have taste! And your tastes SUCK just like your ability to comprehend a club name! Second of all, the bright pink building with the horrid script lag and people yelling over the DJ 6 sims over is where you need to be! :)

I truly enjoy when I get a request for Rib Zobme's Libin ded grl.. I SAID ROM BOMZIE LIGINV DEAS GIEL!... I am a true DJ, so I will play it, you drunken shit! Only b/c it's Rob Zombie, and only b/c I know my fans will dig it...

A true DJ knows when to shut the f**k up, and a true DJ knows when, and HOW to bitch...

A true DJ has sat down for hours on end, analyzing and truly enjoying the music they choose to spin, before they spin it.

A true DJ has ATLEAST 3 playlists saved.

A true DJ will take the time to actually listen to a song before they say "That song makes me want to headbang against a brick wall."

A true DJ stays loyal to their fans.

A true DJ can snap at any moment....

Please take the time to pass this to your fellow DJ's! Let them know....

If you find yourself in a fetal position infront of your computer, rocking back and forth with Dope's Die Mother F**ker Die on loop, watching the people in local chat bitch....

Please... IM another DJ..... so they can pass a LM around and we can all come and watch and laugh at you!

It can be.. Especially when folks get real brave behind the keyboard.. I get my share of ass hats in there trust me!... And Much like OPP I sometimes can not tell by their avatar if they are male or female in real life!

That is me on stage, with my sidekick, wingman Dragon...Fire...this is just about Half the crowd I get for an 8-10 am pst set! People from pst, gettin ready for work havin their coffee with some blues, est on their lunch breaks and UK & EU done workin chillin before dinner.. I've had to learn time zones.. being on pst, or second life time, the UK is 8 hours ahead EU 9 hours.. Australia is about 15 hours give or take, they have 4 time zones like the US..Alaska being an hour behind pst, and Hawaii is 3 hours behind pst.. so basically I get folks from alot of places on the globe.. and Yes It is a blast most of the time sharing tunes with my loved ones... ♥♥♥

I totally get that!...there are a lot of adults there my age and older...Alot of us in there are disabled in some way...it's a diversion for most of us... kinda nice to chat with folks from all over the world though..

Oh.. It is Very cool!! So much so that I have been introduced to some EU blues.. Dutch.. German.. Finland.. Of course British.. American.. and all points all over the US.. UK EU Canada.. Australia.. all over. Love sharing these artists.. I spin Blues/Blues Rock/Blue Grass.. some R&B..

Wake up.. have my coffee, enjoy with friends...Timezones.. Pst..gettin ready for work drinkin coffee..checkin emails etc... Est.. at work.. lunch breaks..UK.. gettin home from work.. fixin dinner same in the EU.. I usually DJ from 8-10 am Pst.. Great way to start the day.. get awake.. When my set is done, Take care of the Big bad real life stuff .. house yard food shopping etc..

I used to do it full time a 40 hour work week of spinnin music.. great gig.. wouldn't trade it for anything.. Some folks I have met out of world.. kinda like sometimes folks from OPP may meet out here in real life land.. actually have met one person in OPP that doesn't live far from me.. that would be cool..also, to meet that person.. Very cool!..
