To a liberal it makes perfect sense, he is helping safe the planet by driving that electric car, can't really think further than the headlines, short attention span & too logical to get "the rest of the story", besides Obama told him to!

The guy is charging his electric vehicle with a diesel powered generator. This creates more pollution than either the diesel by itself or the electric by itself. In other words it is the exact opposite of the idea of a "green" electric car.

Heck, Volkswagen had a diesel auto that got 175 miles to the gallon and the powers that be
Made them shut it down. It also had an electric motor and it made the car get up to 235 miles
mpg.

It is a diesel motor meaning combustion is initiated by compression however the fuel used is natural gas. It is very likely that the primary source of electricity for the charging station is from the grid which in places like California is heavily reliant on solar and wind generation. The generator is simply a back up in case the electric grid gos down.

I don't know how you could tell all that from the pic. Pretty good if you're right.

They couldn't put a nuclear reactor there now could they. Besides, a gasoline powered generator would be cheaper.

But to a leftist Californian Natural Gas is just as bad as diesel. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Berkeley-becomes-first-U-S-city-to-ban-natural-14102242.php

This also shows the lunacy and waste of Green energy. I posted a topic on Wind power in China, and in the research for that topic, in an article they said that China had to build alternative power generation capacity to twice the installed wind power because of the wind not blowing constantly and for peak demand.

This back up generator is another wasteful part of green energy.
