Pedophiles & rapeists go free after serving little time for their crimes and yet our society kills mentally ill people. I do not condone what this person did & I do not know if he is in fact mentally ill. I'm just trying to understand our justice system. Is this really justice??

My mother-in-law is mentally ill. She has had many diagnoses, from she is just obsessed with details to obsessive compulsive personality disorder....no matter what her issues have identified... our courts protect her civil liberties. I don't have a problem with it except that it is exploitation. Our judicial system has to justify it's existence, and that is "justice", not the way: you and I think about justice.
That being said, you sound as if you are afraid to suggest that he is mentally ill? His behavior is an aberration-that is, it is not normal, driven by delusions, he is searching for something he won't find.
