Guess What...
The last time I was in Texas, it was legal to pass on the shoulder And the median.
Sometimes I see Texas tags do it in other states.

While commuting through Texas this past November it was illegal to do so unless instructed to do so by the authorities, usually because of a traffic accident.

When I was stationed at Chanute Air force base I drove Airmen to O Hare airport on weekends and then Looked for uniforms in the Airport Who needed a ride back to the base. I earned $100 or more a week with my little Ford Maverick. My military pay was $288 per month. Some times we drove around Chicago. Easy to get lost some parts darn right scary.

You were only doing 65 in Chicago and are here to tell of it, I'm surprised you weren't run over. I've been passed doing 75 in Chicago before. I have also seen a idiot using the side of a tunnel to run his car against because he obviously didn't have working brakes. There is no large city in America that I ever want to go to. The people in these places are all loonie toones and if the aren't already there they are rapidly on the road to get there. Thanks but I prefer the rural life and if it weren't for my age would probably prefer full blown country living.

If you thought it was "scary" then, you should try it now.

Don't reckon I will. Portland Oregon north of here is gigantic. I Go there now and then. There are parts where you don't want to be walking at night.

That is why I have chosen a gated community in which to reside.
