Luke chapter 23

Verse 1

The sanhedrin had a problem. They could fine and jail, but they couldn’t kill anybody. For this He would have to be tried by Rome.

Verse 2

These are lies. They want to kill Jesus but don’t have a reason. We have the same kind of people in government. They want to impeach Trump for no reason.

Verse 3 - 7

Pilate asked was Christ a king? He knows Jesus is innocent. He finds out that Jesus is from Herod’s jurisdiction. Herod is in Jerusalem, so Pilate sends Jesus to Herod.

Verse 8 - 12

Jesus says nothing to Herod. Nothing is decided. The trial is put back in Pilate’s hands.

Verse 13 - 25

They free a murderer and kill the prince of life. When satan is in charge nothing makes sense. Why would you kill a man that could heal blinded eyes? I guess they liked blinded eyes.

Verse 26

Christ was nearly killed on the whipping post. He didn’t have the strength to bear His own cross. Jesus said take up your cross and follow Him. Now pastors are rich men. Any sin you have ever committed, or negative situation you’ve been through, the church will never forgive you; Even though we are all sinners and everybody has done something. The church has gone from being persecuted to persecuting.

Verse 27 - 29

This idea is in Isaiah 54:1. Jesus said take up your cross and follow Him. Now disciples have gone from being killed for Christ to killing for Christ.

Verse 30 and 31

Read Revelation 6:15 and 16. Now the Pharisees are looked at as disciples.

Verse 32 and 33

Jesus was crucified with two convicted criminals. Read the 53rd chapter of Isaiah and the 22nd Psalm.

Verse 34

If Jesus could pray for His killers as they are killing Him, I need Him on my side.

Verse 35 - 38

A servant is not greater than his master. Jesus was crucified. How dare you expect an easy life.

Verse 39 - 43

These accounts are only in Luke.

Verse 44 and 45
The earth was dark from noon to 3 P.M. The veil was over 20 feet tall and was ripped from top to bottom. This symbolises that we can all have a personal relationship with God.
Verse 46 - 49

The Roman soldiers humbled themselves before Christ

Verse 50 - 53

Joseph of Arimathea was Jesus’ uncle. He could claim Jesus’s body because they were blood relatives.

Verse 54 - 56

At this time, there were two sabbaths to worry about that week. The high sabbath which occurred every 50 years, and the one that came every week.

Amen and Amen very good and you even included the extra Sabbath that occurred that week something that the Roman Catholic Church neglects as well as all other denominations as well.
