Recovering Evangelism with Real Miracles is God’s Way to Awakening

In the midst of America’s moral meltdown, our only hope is another authentic spiritual awakening as we’ve experienced in our past when reaching this critical point. God’s answer to the serious situation in our nation is not primarily legislation and education which are essential but regeneration – hearts changed through a spiritual conversion.

These men are known for consistently communicating the good news in America and beyond. As Barna Research reveals numbers not engaged in the Great Commission, a turnaround is taking place. Multitudes are seizing the opportunity knowing “the harvest is the end of the age” (Matt.13:39). Get in on the adventure! “Don’t say, ‘Four months, then comes the harvest.’ I tell you, lift up your eyes and see the fields are white unto harvest” (Jn. 4:35).
EDITOR’s NOTE: While some say that Christianity is growing in some areas of America, I challenge that.
What is growing in America is spiritless megachurches that entertain and focus on emotions rather than on spiritual truth.
Our nation is filled with a growing number of false teachers, teaching a false Gospel.
What’s sad is that the growing number of people attending these false teaching churches have no clue that their faith Jesus Christ is great compromised and in many instances, it’s a false faith that will only lead them to Hell.
Many of these so-called Christians are often Sunday morning Christians who spend the rest of the week living, thinking and acting like must of the secular world.
What America needs is not a false Awakening, but a true Awakening.
I firmly believe that what America needs is spelled out in 2 Chronicles 7:14, which states:
“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
In that context, we then need to understand that a true Christian is one who does his/her best to follow Jesus’ Sermon on Mount (Matthew 5-7). The Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:2-11 is not talking about different people with different traits, but Jesus was describing the life of a true Christian.
If America’s Christians were this kind of true Christian and lived their faith as strongly as Muslims live theirs, America would again be one nation under God.

One clear purpose of miracles was to authenticate the character of Jesus and His relationship with God, the Father. Miracles demonstrate: God is with Jesus (John 3:2); Jesus is from God (John 3:2; 9:342-33); God has sent Jesus (John 5:36); Jesus has authority on earth to forgive sins (Mark 2:10-11; Matt. 9:6-7; Luke 5:24-25); Jesus is sent by God, the Father (Acts 2:22); the Father is in Jesus and Jesus is in the Father (John 10:37-38; 14:11); in Jesus the kingdom of God has come to earth(Matt. 12:28; Luke 11:20); and Jesus is the promised Jewish Messiah sent to save His people from their sins (Matt. 11:1-6; Luke 7:18-23) and the Son of God (Matt. 14:25-33).
The second purpose of miracles was to authenticate the gospel message about Jesus. This was the major function of the miracles as far as the ministry of the Apostles was concerned. Mark says that the Lord "confirmed His word [that the apostles preached] by the miraculous signs that accompanied it. (Mark 16:20).
When Luke was describing the ministry of Paul and Barnabas at Iconium, he said that the Lord "confirmed the message of His grace toward all men, by enabling the apostles to do miraculous signs and wonders.(Acts 14:3). In both of these texts the Lord does not confirm the apostles themselves but rather "His own word" or "the Gospel message," - that "good news" which the apostles were preaching. Signs and wonders do not testify to the apostles but to the message of salvation preached by the apostles. The two principal things that are authenticated by miracles are 1) the Lord Jesus and 2) the Gospel message of the Lord Jesus.
