Genesis chapter 15

Verse 1

God’s word is a shield..But a shield is useless if it’s on the ground when the arrow is fired. It is better to be proactive than reactive. Exodus 20:14 will help more if you ask if the person is married before you get involved with them, than after you have become pregnant with a married man’s child.

Verse 2 - 5

Abram was 75 when God first spoke to him, Isaac won’t be born until Abram is 100. God is in control. Abram is starting to worry because he is old. What God purposes, He is able to perform.

Verse 6

Read the fourth chapter of Romans. Without faith it is impossible to please Him.

Verse 7

God doesn’t say, “do what I say because of who I am”, but for what He has done in our lives we should see His hand. He doesn’t promise death as penalty for rejecting Him, but life as reward for accepting Him.

Verse 8 - 11

Abram wanted a sign and got it. Zacharias, John the baptist father, asked for a sign and the sign was he would be mute. Jesus says that a wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign. We should not judge by the sight of the eyes or the hearing of our ears, but by righteous judgement. Read John 7:24..

Verse 12 - 15

Before Jacob was born, Abram’s seed was predicted to be slaves in a foreign land for 400 years. Only God can do this. God doesn’t die. No other body of work can predict the future. What the bible says will happen, will happen.

Verse 16 - 24

Fallen angels had mixed in with Canaanites. God watches over a nation and when it passes a certain level of wickedness, then they choose to destroy themselves. We vote for politicians who encourage us to kill our children.
