One of the planks in the Democrat platform is global warming, yet the Great Lakes Are freezing over with a new record being set this year. Some of the Great Lakes have 22 to 28 inches of ice. Pray Tell, Alexandria “Obfuscated” Cortez how you can defend your stand that the globe is experiencing “Global Warming” and how you and your party support the “Green Initiative.”

The plain truth is the carbon tax is nothing more than a “Democrat Crafted Ponzi Scheme.” They will “tout this issue” during their presidential campaign that we need to pass legislation to impose a green energy tax on all American’s to control emissions on order to stop global warming which is a completely false narrative. The underlying principal behind this false narrative is to sell these lies to America and craft an expensive tax, “the carbon tax” which will be applied on every form of transportation, energy production, food, and virtually all goods and services produced in this nation. The tax will grant our legislators greater control over our lives in the same way the “Obamacare Bill” has done in the healthcare sector. Just another Government ploy to “garner a massive revenue source” to promote “radical left wing policies” which are intended to further control Americans, enrich the policy makers, the lobbyists, their chosen corporate executives who agree to contribute to their campaign and cause, while further “impoverishing the poor and middle class Americans” who have to fess up more money in taxes to support the continuing and expanded legislation. Once the basic legislation is passed, more bills will follow, more money needed, more money wasted. Yes, it will morph into another huge government program to spend taxpayer monies as they, not you, see fit.

Hey tbutkovich, You need to keep up with the left's continually evolving boogyman narrative. Global warming is no longer 'in' as the boogyman as it was during Al Gore's heyday. Why? Because mother nature refused to cooperate. As your post points out.
The new boogyman is 'climate change'. That way everyone can worship at the altar no matter what the climate does. Because climate never stays the same.
The beauty of this new boogyman is that it's worldwide, affects everyone on planet earth, and no matter what the particular adverse weather condition is, anywhere on the planet, it can be blamed on climate change.
And unless you sign on to climate change, you're destroying the planet. Change all your lightbulbs from incandescent to LED, get rid of your outdated internal combustion engine car and replace it with an electric one. And dig deep and buy your share of carbon tax credits according to the size of your carbon footprint.

You are correct. Their narrative continues to morph into whatever they believe will sway the American’s into backing their cause but they never explain nor defend the cost and benefits of their of their programs. They play on people’s emotions. “The sky is falling,” but with your help we can build a structure to prevent that from happening. “Send your money to Congress and we will solve that problem!” What will it cost? We’ll talk about that after we pass the legislation

Climate is complex. Making a snowball in winter does not rule out climate change. The oceans are warmer which makes for more moisture in the air through evaporation, meaning more energy and precipitation for storms in all seasons, creating greater rainfall and snowfall. Weather is not climate. When there is a fundamental rise in temperatures around the globe, there are many odd effects, like drought, the great lakes freezing to record depths, major flooding in areas previously with little or no flooding, more severe snowstorms and low temperatures, and so on.

Making Climate change a political football is irresponsible. Our future, that of our family and grandchildren, should be our greatest concern, and not a party line no matter what party. We should just want the truth. One of those truths is that Green Energy, perpetually renewable, works. What is the harm in that? Of course we have to pay for it, like gasoline taxes and subsidies to the Oil Industry, yet what price for the security of our nation and tomorrow? Making this issue a Liberal or Conservative talking point deserts our obligation as an individual citizen to assess any possible threat to our way of life.

She understands the difference between climate and weather and this somehow escapes you. Changes in climate that scientists almost universally attribute to greenhouse gas emissions have disrupted weather patterns channeling arctic fronts into the Great Lakes and central US. This is why the lakes have heavy ice cover not because the earth as a whole is not increasing in temperature, it clearly is.

Well...except...we had that in the 50s and 60s, too. Winters now are more what I remember from then, and the summers are cooler, at least in northern Illinois. Summers are more like UP Michigan summers were, where it always cools off at night.

I agree that we should be responsible to explore alternative energies, including the original diesel type engines that ran on vegetable oil. I do, however, disagree with the Paris Climate Accord nonsense. That was simply a wealth redistribution scheme IMO

Global warming sets changes into effect that cause weather extremes... to both ends of the spectrum, and can cause an ice age.

That said I think the idea of a carbon tax is idiotic.

Yeah, I just threw that one in there, cuz the more I found out about it the less I liked it. It was a kind of world tax of carbon footprint, whose proceeds would be redistributed to poorer nations to develop infrastructure. That's a simplistic explanation, of course. Anyhow, i do agree that we should be rrsponsible for clean air, clean water etc. And i cant tell you how it irks me to see the people "fighting against climate change" private jetting around the country and sometimes the world. Skype, dudes!

I know. Climate change experts say, "the science is beyond dispute." Except when it is. And then we get long winded, convoluted explanations arguing against what we plainly see. To explain why our lying eyes can't be trusted.
