I wonder how many here really believe that we can't use that term without appearing to be black. I stopped using it in the early 50s so as not to hurt the feelings of people of the race. I surely never did stop using it with my black buddy who called me all the names they used on us, but he didn't seem to be hurt when I used the name especially since both of us wanted to hurt those of the race who couldn't handle it.

The thing that always bothered me back then was that so many of them couldn't handle some of my jokes especially those that needed the term to be funny.

Why would you use it to begin with and exactly what joke needs a derogatory term to be funny? Maybe it was the racism they were opposed to and not the term.

When you say the word, "Liberal', it's the same as saying the N word.

The N word has evolved.

It's now defined by behavior and not skin color.

So what is an applicable time to use the word 'nigger?' I guess the question is what kind of humor requires the use of racially derogatory words to be funny?

Perhaps the laughter received isn't laughter due to how funny the joke is but rather nervous laughter because of how racist the joke is.

Long ago, I knew someone that was one of the biggest racists I knew, he absolutely hated blacks, the ironic part was, he was of 100% black heritage. He detested ALL blacks, knowing this, I am pretty sure he would have laughed hysterically at black jokes, if I had chosen to tell any. I did not, I didn't wish to add any he may not have heard before to his arsenal. His "arsenal" was already quite extensive, he told me quite a few. And yes, ANYONE can be racist, I am quite sure he would have joined the KKK if they would have accepted him. He loved white people, hated Jews, hated Mexicans. Pretty sure he didn't like anyone not considered Caucasian, that and Jews, hated them with a passion.

Personally, I prefer to hate someone based on their own words/actions. I am not one to hate based on generalities or stereotypes, usually.

When a black is behaving in an undignified manner, particularly if they are glorifying poverty, drug abuse, or sexism, it is appropriate to call them a nigger...

The same applies to white trash...

Any joke based on a stereotype would be a good example...

Stereotypical jokes aren't necessarily racist...
I (personally) don't hate anyone based on the color of their skin.. But I can appreciate a stereotypical joke...

Nigger is derogatory when used by whites, but not by blacks. What white Liberals can't or won't understand is that white boy when used by a black is the same as nigger when used by a white. I constantly hear black entertainers talk about white boys. Should a white entertainer constantly talk about niggers blacks and white Liberals would let out a howl you could hear on the moon.
It's like you. You think wetback is a racial term. Which race? "Latino" is not a race. There are Mexican and Central American nationals who are more Caucasian in appearance than probably I am. That race?

I used to have a black partner in real estate, I’ll never forget her face when we closed a deal and I fistbumped her and said my nigga! She burst out laughing!!then said , u can’t say that! To which I said why not?
