President Trump and his team want to ‘open up’ libel laws. The goal: to make it easier to sue media organizations for unfavorable coverage. But there is little that the President can actually do to change the libel laws. There is no federal law on libel. State laws control libel, and all such laws are subject to stringent First Amendment protections for the press and other speakers that the Supreme Court has imposed through cases such as the landmark New York Times v. Sullivan decision in 1964. However, threats to loosen the libel laws is noteworthy as part of a larger effort to criticize the press and attack its credibility.

I chose that source as it isn't a major media outlet but there are many sources for that same information and it has been well known by most for quite some time as well as the fact that he claims any media coverage that isn't flattering to him is "fake news". He has also claimed "fake news" (as he calls it) is the enemy of the people.

It seems fairly clear that he would like to sue any and all media outlets that doesn't spin stories on things he does or says into a positive light out of production. Fairly clear evidence that he DOESN'T favor the first amendment.

So Okay, I hit the link and read what you referred me to. Nowhere does it state that our President is a Democrat. So I ask once again, where did you see the statement that Donald Trump is a Democrat?

There is news and then there is editorializing. When every utterance and action is subjected to a barrage of negative interpretations and lies are propagated overtly or by omission of key facts, then these media sources are not engaging in first amendment free speech.

The laws were altered regarding the merger of multiple media outlets in a given market area, allowing the six megacorporations that exist today to come into being. It was a mistake, which needs to be rectified. No one anticipated that the six would present a uniform bias on the news and suppress what did not suit their agenda. An uninformed populace is an easily manipulated populace and the media have proven to be disseminators of propaganda, not facts.

Except those who present a uniform bias on the news and suppress what does not suit their agenda. They knew. And they pushed for it.

In your post, you were trying to say that only Democrats want to deny others of their freedom of speech. If we are to assume that you are correct, then obviously Trump MUST be a democrat, but as I stated, I am pretty sure he claims to be a Republican.

I have done my own fact checking of many, not ALL, but many of his "fake news" claims and I failed to find any cases where the news he was claiming to be fake were actually fake. Most of my attempts were where he called "fake news" regarding a segment where they pointed out one of his own tweets (I can often times be quite lazy and those are the easiest to prove/disprove), NONE turned out to be fake. Of course I gave up long ago to prove/disprove his allegations of "fake news" as I never actually found any confirmation, I am certain there would have been sufficient proof recently (the MAGA hatted teen/native American incident being one such example) but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

It is true that only Democrats want to deny others their freedom of speech, in the US anyway, but what does that have to do with President Trump? How does Democrats constantly trying to silence any voice that is not in total agreement with theirs make President Trump a Democrat? I don't see the correlation.
