Ph.D Diploma now Available for Social Justice Warriors

Social justice warriors who have busied themselves pointing out “micro-aggressions” and decrying “cultural appropriation” can now avail themselves of a lengthy study course in their chosen field.

North Carolina State University recently announced that it will be offering a Ph.D. course in Social Justice Education as of Fall 2019. The course, which was later renamed the Educational Equity course, is being offered with the aim of teaching “scholar-activists” how to bring about social justice in a classroom setting by disrupting oppressive learning systems, creating equitable learning environments and promoting social diversity in any educational setting.

Students who take the course will also learn about all-important topics such as ethnic-racial identity development, education and immigration and culturally sensitive research approaches and methodologies. Faculty members teaching the course will come from various departments, including educational psychology, literacy education, multicultural studies, social studies, special education and English Language Arts.

While North Carolina State University is thrilled to be able to offer a Ph.D. course in this field, not everyone thinks that such a course is a good idea. Some rightly fear that those who pursue a degree in this field are only interested in bolstering their existing worldview rather than learning how to analyze various viewpoints in an objective manner.

It is also worth noting that while the university has no problem offering a brand new course that is clearly liberal in nature, the odds of any mainstream educational institution offering a similar educational course that is conservative are slim to none. North Carolina State University, like just about every other educational institution throughout the nation, is clearly staffed by left-wing faculty members who are using their position to foist a liberal agenda on young people. Truthfully, it’s hard to see this new course as anything other than a job security prospect.

So, what jobs can you expect to be trained for with a social justice degree? No one seems to be sure. Given the fact that the course focuses on education, graduates will most likely look for work in the education sector, searching for job openings for professors, teachers and faculty members — basically spreading the gospel of social justice. It remains to be seen if schools, high schools, colleges, universities and companies that create educational materials would be willing to hire a certified “social justice warrior”, which means that taking the course in the first place would be a massive waste of both time and money.

On the other hand, there is a very real danger that educational institutions will seek out individuals with an Educational Equity degree, putting left-wing activists who in many cases have a difficult time handling reality in charge of providing an education to the next generation.

Social justice activism, a movement that is ostensibly meant to push tolerance and freedom, is actually just as totalitarian in nature as many of the world’s worst dictatorships. Social justice warriors have not only targeted conservatives and moderates, but even liberals who are not fully on board with a far-left, progressive agenda. “Social justice warriors,” as the movement’s supporters have become known on the right, decry freedom of speech and even freedom of thought.

The fact that a major university in the United States would approve such a curriculum is crazy, but not surprising. And considering that things like “gender studies” are already options for college degrees just about everywhere, we can’t imagine this is going to change much of anything. Really, it seems like lefty professors are struggling to make ends meet, and are desperately trying to find inventive ways to remain relevant.

The LA Times reported that the course will introduce debates like: “the idea that if you’re gay, then music by gay composers such as Benjamin Britten will sound different to you than it would if you were straight.”
