Luke chapter 7

Verse 1

Chapter 6 can be considered Luke’s Sermon on the Mount. Jesus had a house in Capernaum.

Verse 2 – 10

The similar miracle in Matthew 8:5 – 13 doesn’t mention the temple, and Jesus makes a prediction in Matthew that is not in Luke. Jesus not only healed, He taught. Jesus is impressed by faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

Verse 11 – 18

This miracle is only mentioned in Luke. Listening to Jesus actually improved the lives of those who did what He said.

Verse 19 – 23

Jesus and John were distant cousins. Mary and Elizabeth were cousins according to Luke 1:36. First cousin’s parents were siblings. John was just a man He had limited understanding. In verse 22 every problem is cured. The cure for poverty is found in reading the bible and doing what it says. Capitalism and Christianity go hand in hand. Socialism will never work. Read Jeremiah 17:5.

Verse 24 – 28

Read Malachi 3:1 and 4:5. Friendship with the world is enmity with God. Satan has deceived the whole world. A deceived mind will disagree with the truth. Satan is the least in heaven. He was pulling the strings to kill John the Baptist.

Verse 29 & 30

God’s children hear His voice and recognize His word. satan’s children become wealthy now. But they will pay later.

Verse 31 – 35

Damned if you do damned if you don’t. Some people just don’t like you and will not be satisfied unless you are looked down on.

Verse 36

When you invite Jesus into your house, He never says no.

Verse 37 & 38

These false prophets and satan will never be treated like this by anybody. They only care for themselves.

Verse 39 & 40

The Pharisee did not say anything out loud. Jesus and God can read minds. As a matter of fact, our ability to perceive reality is in the hands of the supernatural.

Verse 41 – 47

This incident is only in Luke.

Verse 48 – 50

For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that through Him the world would be saved. Without faith it is impossible to please Him
