With all due respect, I'm not sure if the word "Twisted Logic" is accurate. Liberalism insanity and mental illness. Is more accurate, in light of the actual fact, that the land was stolen and given to the people who are in possession of it. Everyone should take a intelligence review of that historical right, and history. Everything js based on fraud. And Jews has confirmed it as well. The author of your article has a valid point. But, he make assumptions, one being we do not have a DNA link to Israel. First, and very importantly.... people who have identified themselves as Jews have lived on that land for thousands of years. Even when the vast majority were captured and taken into slavery, some still remained. So, historically there has always been a population that identified themselves as Jews who resided and cultivated the land, building homes, and had no loyalty to any other nation or state for some 3,000 years. I do give the author credit for recognizing that "it’s not only Jews who don’t possess a common DNA – neither do all other human groups that claim to be peoples or nations – besides which I have never thought that genetics can confer national rights. Now the next thing the author ignores is the land of Israel was legally purchased from the nomads who claimed ownership. Land purchase records are on file in Jerusalem. And finally the author is unaware that being Jewish has less to do with DNA than it does with a belief system that sets us apart... we believe there is only one G*d and He provided laws and rules to guide us in a good life. Anyone can become a Jew through conversion. Just as anyone can become an American by fulfilling requirements. Anyone can become an atheist by denouncing G*d..... has nothing to do with DNA. So, basically your author (Shlomo Sand) who renounced G*d to become an atheist, writes a very biased article which is not based on history or commonsense. Although there are portions of the article, as cited above, that is a product of logic, the remainder is a combination of his new found faith and hatred for a group of people he can not understand.

It is interesting to try to decipher the hierarchy of hate amongst the right wing nutters on OPP. It has got to be maddening for your average American bigot to figure out. They hate Jews and have loads of conspiracy theories about how they secretly control the world but they also despise Arabs and Muslims considering them a horrible threat. How do you figure out who to hate more? I guess if your enemies enemy is your enemy you are your own worst enemy.

Shlomo seems to ignore the fact that the Romans thought there was a Jewish nation as well as a Jewish people. The Romans appointed Herod as King of the Jews and ruler of the land of Judea over the Jewish people. As far as there being no genetic or racial aspect, these are all Semitic people and the fact that some Jews are African and others are European Caucasian does not alter the core genetics of the people. This is borne out by the modern day (1800’s) finding of a genetically transmitted disease, Tay-Sachs that predominantly affects Jewish people, particularly Ashkenazi Jews.

The Jews have existed as a people for over five thousand years, bound together by their monotheistic religion; their culture has been maintained by relatively stringent prohibition against marrying outside of their faith. This factor alone is sufficient over this time period to have created a genetic difference between Jews and others.

I am not a Talmudic scholar and in fact know very little of what the Talmud contains. Yet, it does not smell right that the Talmud would forbid Jews from gathering in the Promised Land. This whole article resonates with the feeling that this individual has an axe to grind.

Quite frankly, they can live anywhere that requires common respect for economic, cultural blending with their surroundings, and behaviors, we would consider truistic in nature and equitable sharing and respect for others in the scheme of natural and loving kindness, as we know as the golden rule. Not resonant to any special entitlements or, mentality's of grandiloquence superiority and or object special treatment.
