A small town in upstate New York rallied to raise money for a mural on a local pizzeria. The patriotic mural simply depicted the American Flag in all its glory. But, just days before the mural was complete, leftist protesters showed up and destroyed it. However, the folks in this small town had the perfect response.

The town of New Paltz, New York, came together recently to show support for a local pizzeria and restaurant. The popular La Bella Pizza Bistro had an old brick wall that needed some refacing. Turning to crowdfunding, local residents rallied the town to raise enough money to beautify the side of the building.

he restaurant, which was across the street from an elementary school, would have a fresh, patriotic mural. The plans were to paint an unfurled American flag, flying through a sea of blue sky. There were no political messages, nothing to offend American citizens. The fundraising was successful and the painting was underway.

It looked as if La Bella Pizza Bistro’s wall would get a much-needed facelift. But, with only days before the mural was complete, disaster struck. Anti-American protesters defaced the mural, splattering parts of the flag with graffiti.

It seems like the protesters — who are, from all appearances, obnoxious teenagers and college students — started boycotting the restaurant because of the mural.

But, pro-flag residents hosted a rally and Flag Walk to support both the restaurant and our flag. Protesters appeared across the street. They dressed in familiar Antifa garb and carried anarchistic-style banners. Other signs had messages like “Our Nation was Born in Genocide” and other left-wing nonsense.

Vandals were an ancient Germanic people who were known for senseless destruction during the sacking of Rome. Today the term vandal refers to anyone who practices wanton destruction of property. If true this pointless and insensitive destruction of private property is to be condemned and the perpetrators held to account. That said it is troubling that a minority of Americans feel alienated and left out of the American dream and the flag that symbolizes a history of social missteps like the shameful history of slavery and subjugation of Native American culture. Both political tribes have practiced cultural vandalism. Obama’s lofty put down of rural folk clinging to their guns and bibles, Clinton’s “deplorables”, Ronald Reagan’s
“Welfare Queens”. Perhaps the rural folk who felt alienated by the urban “elites” could relate to urban edge dwellers who feel as alienated by oppressive living conditions as they do. A life without hope is fertile ground for mischief, the scourge of extremism and the false promises of populist avatars.

When identified - and many were unmasked - they should be arrested, given criminal records (or at least a good fright about criminal records) and made to pay the damage. Those that were paid, especially paid organisers, should do hard jail time and get their criminal record recorded.

Bad behavior by and for left wing "causes" (which encompass anything that in any way attacks conservative or otherwise patriotic American expression, policy or sentiment) is today embraced by "progressives" as perfectly acceptable or, if deemable as extremist, deeds to be simply overlooked.

The mob that terrorized Tucker Carlson's wife at his home, for example, barely if at all received even brief mention by mainstream media, just as the UNacceptable actions of AntiFa go totally unreported by left leaning "journalists."

The same for the mobs that run conservatives out of restaurants, as recommended by Maxine Waters.

This is all behavior condoned by the uncivilized mob Democrats have either become or have no problem with.

If groups of Conservatives began perpetrating the same offenses against Democrats, the hue and cry in the liberal media would be deafening.

Unfortunately, these ladies and gentlemen of the political left are convinced that obnoxious, unsavory and downright inhuman behavior is somehow justified because they believe that their excretions leave no ill impressions on others' olfactory organs.
