Are these people serious? They're army went on vacation and all they have is a bunch of US/EU paid neo-Nazis with single shots.
This would be like Canada telling us "You get those ICE agents away from the border or we are going to lob Molson's at you."

"Ukraine Gives Russia 48-Hr Ultimatum Or "We Will Fight"

Ukraine's foreign ministry has given Russia a 48-hour ultimatum to explain its military exercises near the nation's border; or, as foreign minister Andriy Deshschytisa warns "we will now fight with Russia troops."

Ukraine's foreign minister has blasted the Russian decision to start military maneuvers along Ukraine's border and said his country will fight any invading troops.
Andriy Deshchytisa said Russia's decision Thursday to launch the military exercises "very much escalates the situation in the region."
Talking to The Associated Press in Prague, Deshchytisa says his country has been taught a lesson by Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula. He says "having this experience, we will now fight with Russian troops if ... they invade Ukraine."
He says "Ukrainian people and Ukrainian army are ready to do this."
Deshchytisa says the new Russian military exercises are taking place "even closer to the Ukrainian border than it was planned earlier" and demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops.
It seems the red-line is about to be crossed by both sides... though as long as Putin does not hold an emergency press conference, it seems BTFWWIII is back on.

We will get sucked n on this count on it. We used to walk softly and carry a big stick, but with Obama, we stomp around and make asses of ourselves, and carry a limp "stick".

Exactly what did our Vice President promise these thugs? If I were a betting woman my money would be on Russia.

If the Ukraine fires on Russian troops on the border, Putin may very well invade. Someone should help Deshchytisa with his delusions before world war III kills us all.

I wonder if there are any alliances or coalitions or agreements on the books that would obligate anyone to help Ukraine remain a free, independent nation? If so, would it be right to honor those obligations or to disregard those obligations and let whatever happens happen? Hmmm? What does it mean to be civilized?

You guys are soooo right. That was my thought also. After Brennan's in cognito visit they broke the Geneva agreement and as soon as Bidden was safely on Airforce II they declared a criminal order to fire on citizens.
We just spread democracy everywhere we go don't we?

So you are saying that the US is helping Russia to take over Ukraine. You might be right. That could be what Obama and Biden are working toward.

Yes the Budapest Agreement but the US broke it 5 years ago when it instigated the Orange Revolution. Russia has repeatedly stated that they wish Ukraine to remain independent and only took Crimea back after a 96% referendum vote to return to Russia.
One of the problems is that with the new IMF loan to pay Russia their gas bill and the western banks back the money Ukraine owes them part of the deal was austerity cuts. So while the pensioner and civil (military) took pay cuts by half the military and pensioners that referendumed over to Russia received a 400% raise to match what Russia pays their military.

You might find this video a good source of where Russia stands. If Kerry could speak English as well as Lavrov that would be a start at making us look at bit more credible.

What bothers me most about the situation in the Ukraine is the average person having no say so in their destiny.

The US backed thugs, NATO, Russia, the US, and the EU are using these poor people in a grab for power. I see no way the Ukraine people can win.

Whichever master wins the people of the Ukraine lose.

That is why they need an outside power to take up the struggle for the Ukraine people. Which side is more likely looking out for the interests of free people, the Western side, or the Russian side? All we can do is choose which side to help, and hope when that side wins, they stand up for the freedom of the people. But, we must be engaged. To stay out of it is to hand the people over to tyrants. Who do you believe are most likely to be the tyrants?

I sure wish we were massing thousands of troops along OUR border with Mexico and conducting military exercises - with live ammunition!

I can not understand why allowing the people of the Ukraine to decide their own fate is such a bad thing.

We in the US talk about freedom for the Ukraine but we gave up freedom for a false sense of security.

We do not have to live with the consequences, the people of the Ukraine do. Let them decide for themselves.

You know Putin tried to warn the other members at the G8 last June and they didn't listen.
"“You want President Bashshar al-Asad to step down? Look at the leaders you’ve made in the Middle East in the course of what you have dubbed the “Arab Spring.” Now the peoples of the region are rejecting those leaders. The revolution against Muhammad Mursi in Egypt continues and anybody who knows the character of Egyptian society is aware of the fact that it is a deeply rooted secular society of varied cultures and civilizations with a history of advanced political activity. It will never accept attempts to impose things upon it by force. As to Receb Tayyib Erdoğan [in Turkey], the street is moving against him and his star is beginning to wane. In Tunisia the Muslim Brotherhood-Salafi rule that you formed there is no longer stable and the fate of Tunisia won’t be very far from the army seizing power, because Europe will never accept chaos on its borders and Tunisia is an entry way to Europe.” (Putin said this before the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Tunisia resigned to declare his candidacy for president of the republic. Note by as-Safir.)

Putin went on: “You have spread anarchy in Libya after Mu‘ammar al-Qadhdhafi. Nobody can put together an authority capable of working to rebuild the state there. Yemen after the departure of ‘Ali ‘Abdallah Salih lacks stability in government and there is no peace in the streets. Military and security unrest continues to prevail in all the regions of the country. As to the Persian Gulf, the whole area from Bahrain to the rest of the states there is sitting atop a volcano,” Putin said.

The diplomatic source reported the Russian President as saying: “You want Russia to abandon Asad and his regime and go along with an Opposition whose leaders don’t know anything except issuing fatwas declaring people heretics, and whose members – who come from a bunch of different countries and have multiple orientations – don’t know anything except how to slaughter people and eat human flesh. You use double standards and approach the crisis in Syria using summer and winter styles under one roof. You lie to your own peoples so as to further your interests. This is none of our business. But it is impermissible for you to lie to us and to the countries and peoples of the world, because the international stage is no longer yours alone. Your ability to monopolize it the way you did two decades ago is now gone for good.”

Putin continued: “In Syria all of you are standing on the side of the forces that for the last 10 years you have claimed to be fighting against under the rubric of ‘fighting terror.’ Now today you are with them, helping them to take power across the region. You declare that you’re going to arm them and work to facilitate sending their fighters to Syria to bring it down, weaken it, and break it up.” Putin asked, “In God’s name what kind of democracy are you talking about? You want a democratic regime in Syria to take the place of the Asad regime, but are Turkey and the countries you’re allied with in the region blessed with democracy?”

Putin addressed US President Obama specifically, saying: “Your country sent its army to Afghanistan in the year 2001 on the excuse that you are fighting the Taliban and the al-Qa‘idah Organization and other fundamentalist terrorists whom your government accused of carrying out the 11 September attacks on New York and Washington. And here you are today making an alliance with them in Syria. And you and your allies are declaring your desire to send them weapons. And here you have Qatar in which you [the US] have your biggest base in the region and in the territory of that country the Taliban are opening a representative office.”

Sounds good. If you can get the Russians to agree, I think the west would go along. Unfortunately, I think they already had that negotiation, and made that agreement, but neither side can live with it. And the country itself seems to be divided, almost as badly as the USA is divided over whether they would rather be free or communist. Eventually, evil wins because it is more ruthless. Watch the movie "Ruthless people" and you will see that ruthless people cannot be agreeable or expected to keep their word.
