Putin is a political genius. He is ruthless, efficient, and most of all cunning. And the Russian people are behind him 100%, despite being deprived of democratic representation and free speech. One of the reasons for this, I believe, is Mr. Putin's post-soviet Russian ideological realignment from the extreme left, to the extreme right. Instead of the eternal revolution and egalitarian equality, Mr. Putin has replaced these soviet era ideals, with those that can be found within our nation's own bible belt.

Putin's recent trumpeting of anti-LGBTQ laws is one of many of his efforts to create a new conservative, "morally righteous" Russian Empire. These homophobic sentiments are shared with many citizens of the United States, despite our recent progress on the issue. Support is even more fervent among African nations who have also passed anti-gay laws.

This, along with his extreme privatization measures, goes to show that when Reagan brought the wall down, he may have created an even worse enemy than we had before.

Russia is sounding more and more like the last bastion of morality left in the world. I know it isn't but when you look at the way our leaders are screwing up, all weak and corrupt, and then look at the strength of character being displayed by the Russians, it's hard not to see them in a more favorable light, and I sure as hell never thought I'd ever be saying that.

Ugh. Okay, if a bill passes, that doesn't mean it's right. Now let's examine the biggest issue at hand: can you consider any bill passed by Putin to be a legitimate reflection of democracy? Well, that's up to you.

Now, let's say Putin is right, and everybody wants this bill. Well, that makes Putin a populist, just giving the masses what they want. But as we know from history, the majority is not always moral. So, Putin is essentially trying to win support by doing whatever the masses want. So, does that mean the bill is morally right? Maybe.

Now look at the law itself. It is an anti-homosexual propaganda bill. Which is essentially anti-free speech.

So what do we really have here? Putin preying off the false fears of the masses for political gains. To say he is protecting anyone is an absurdity and offensive.
