It sounds like they have taken a page out of the Republican playbook. And I wonder does it matter if it's children and not women? I mean, after all, women were children once too were they not...

I don't see anything in the linked article that even remotely reminds me of any Republicans I know, and I know quite a few.
No, if the article is accurate, I am reminded more of Hillary Clinton and more than a few prominent left wing Democrats in Congress and the media, not so much because they may or may not have any sexual proclivities, but because they seem to employ the same type of logic, ie "Bill's case was different, because Monica Lewinsky was an adult."

The argument for Kavanaugh was that it wasn't rape because there was no penetration. As I said, the Catholic Church is taking a page out of the Republican playbook...

That wasn't the "Republican argument" at all.
The Republican "argument" was that Brett Kavanaugh wasn't even AT the party in question, the party his accuser "couldn't remember" the year of or even what city or county it was in.
