Interest is the force that moves the world, because both love and hate are interests. The opposite of interest is the lack of interest and the Cuban philosopher Don José de la Luz y Caballero tells us: "Without interest, men tend not to analyze things; with interest they usually do not know how to analyze them ". Many times we do not analyze what is not of our interest, which leads us to have erroneous conceptions of things. We also let ourselves be carried away by those propositions that focus on the issues that interest us, appealing to our emotions, without realizing the deception that these propositions present to us; so, once convinced of a falsehood, even if someone shows us with facts our mistake, it is hard for us to recognize it. "It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled”, says Mark Twain.
It is very common in our day the misinformation to which we are subjected by the news media, which mix the truth with half-truths, do not offer the facts themselves, adding their biased interpretation of them, promoting falsehoods and playing with emotions according to their interests. They blatantly distort history, expose what suits them and hide what is contrary to their preaching.
It is notorious how it is spoken against Nazism, mentioning the crimes of Hitler, without speaking about the crimes committed by Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro, etc., because the current in the media is leftist and condemning the conservative ideas is the convenient thing to do. In this case we are subjected to a double deception, because Hitler was not capitalist, the name of his party (NAZI = National Socialist) clearly tells us what his doctrine was. Another deception is that the German (Hitler) is the greatest genocide of all time (20 million dead), when the truth is that he has the third place in this category, since the first place corresponds to the Chinese genocide (70 million of dead) and the second to the Georgian-Russian (30 million dead). I remember how on one occasion, talking to a communist, I said that what started the Second World War was the invasion of Poland, which had been taken to effect by Germany, that invaded it from the west and the Soviet Union, which invaded it from the east. Another analysis that would be good to realize, is the "interest" in confusing the "liberalism" (free market) with the "socialism" (planned control), without a clear definition of what it is to be "progressive".
