While at breakfast this morning, with my friend bhamer, he asked where in Texas our property is. I told him Riviera. I asked him if he thought anyone on this forum, living in Texas, knew where Riviera is. He answered in the affirmative. I have my doubts. So, no cheating by any means, before answering. Do any of you know where Riviera is? A, yes, has to be backed up with knowledgeable, geographic, references of the area.

Why would anyone care where you live?

A similar question could be: Are you a Texan? If not, don't show your ignorance, mind your own business.

I do know where it is. Not because I've ever been there, but because here in Amarillo, we received a misrouted shipment of vet supplies going there a while back. I looked it up so that I would know which hub to forward it to.
It's way down by the southern tip, in the Corpus area.
That's what I know.
Prolly about 12 hours of hard driving from me.

In South Texas, not far below Kingsville and east of Falfurrias, Texas. May I assume you fish in Baffin Bay? Friends used to travel near there on their way to Padre Island. Like Arch, I'm less familiar with it than I am simply aware of it.

You are, a ways from Riviera, archie. And you're correct. Whenever anyone asks me where Riviera is, I always reference Kingsville, Kingsville is a bit north. I'm surprised at the number of Texan's that aren't aware of where Kingsville is or don't seem to know of Kingsville. But then, Texas is a big place. However, there is only one King Ranch, I expected all Texans to know or have heard of it.

Hey slat! Where ya been? Ain't seen ya in a while.
Heck, you're right there by it, aren't ya? I mean, it's only a couple of inches away from you on a map!

I am not a Texan, but I was stationed in Texas twice. In fact, I have some real good memories of Texas. Texans are polite, especially in mixed company, and would never be unnecessarily rude to anyone. And my question remains, why would anyone want to know where you live?

Been out of sorts, mostly with my computer. But, even on a regular travel road map, Lake Whitney is more like a foot or more from Riviera.

BTW, Richard, don't believe anything Bahmer says about either Marines or the lowly Squids.

No, I don't fish, Slat. But, I'm well aware of the location. There's the famous Kings Inn, there, and a couple of other establishments. One of those establishments is a small redneck bar called "Sams place" that we frequent from time to time.

If you ever get down that way, be sure and check out the Kings Inn. It's world famous for its seafood fare. One thing though, they make you remove your hat when entering. LOL.

I've been to Kingsville myself once, years ago. And any Texan who doesn't know about the King ranch should be shipped to Oklahoma.

That area is serviced by our hub at Corpus, so those 4 boxes were probably worn out by the time they finally got there, if they ever did. I sent them back to Dallas, who probably sent them to Houston, who probably sent them back to Dallas, who then sent them to Austin, who probably reported them damaged beyond repair, and sent them back to Dallas.
The freight business is a strange animal.

I am reminded of the scene in 'Giant' where Rock Hudson gets his clocked cleaned by the owner of that small diner. As you probably knew, that movie was based around the famous King Ranch.

Why would anyone care that you were stationed in Texas, or care about your memories? You can't help yourself can you, you just walk right into it every time.

Yeah, now that you mention it, that would be a good movie to rewatch. Thanks.
