However, it is good to recall that when we go into the U.S. military, we take an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. We do not take an oath to defend the government. Some years ago, when I was Ground Comm officer with a ANG fighter group, we got a TWX from NGB one day putting us on 24 hour alert "in support of the Constitution." I learned later that the regualrs got a similar TWX from JCS, but theirs was a bit more specific. It said that if they got any orders to arrest members of Congress or the Supreme court, that they wdre to ignore those orders. A few days later, Dick Nixon resigned. I don't know to this day if somebody at the Pentagon knew or suspected that "Tricky Dick" was planning something or whether they were just putting a shot across the bow as a warning, but our military takes that oath about the Constitution very seriously.

Wow, that information is startling... while it is good to hear it on one hand, reassuring..

To think we could have, maybe, been so close to that kind of crisis is upsetting..

Nah, to support Hillary takes a truly sick, demented individual. I doubt that any of those 15 who supported her then are any better now.

Jeezum! I hope they haven't changed their minds. Trump seems to have some sort of magnetic effect on a lot of people, and I occasionally see posts saying that he has done everything hie promised, but I would hope that this insanity has not permeated our military.

The Founders wrote the Constitution somewhat like a military order. The preamble lays out the Founder's intent. The rest of the Constitution is the orders by which that intent is to be carried out. They wisely put a means to amend it right into the document itself. Today, we have two private organizations that have usurped the authority to tell us who we can vote for. One does not like the 1st amendment and the other does no like the 2nd amendment, and both ignore the 12 amendment. They both claim to support the Constitution, but they only support the parts they like, or can use against the other. And if you look at the state of the country today, you can see that the goals laid out in the preamble are not being met.
