Democrats aren't the only ones. The US Chamber of Commerce never saw an amnesty they didn't support, and there are plenty of RINOs in their pocket. There have been seven amnesties since the mid eighties and not all of them were in Democrat Administrations.

Only if they can figure out how to keep federal welfare flowing to Kalifornia, and keep the right to vote to eventually change the USA into the socialist utopia that they think California will become if it leaves the USA.

First they wanted to split into three states, THEN realizing that wouldn't work. California is broke, they have borrowed and wasted so much money they can not repay it. Loans are due and they can not repay them.
Now they want to become a separate country. As Grandpaw always said "history always seems to repeat it's self." The Confederate States of America learned that cold hard fact of life.
Apparently the socialists democrat didn't study American history. Oh well just cut off all federal aid except for social security and food stamps to the elderly and disabled people.
Once California again starts obaying federal laws and working with ICE agents then restart federal aid up to the amount of taxes paid in.
