FBI agent at center of the Russia investigation absolutely obliterated congressman at sham hearing

About That Hearing -- the GOP Got Crushed

FBI agent Peter Strzok is testifying before the House Judiciary Committee today in yet another Republican-controlled investigation aimed at helping themselves politically. In this case, they are trying to smear FBI agent Strzok, whose text messages were publicly revealed. Republicans are hellbent on twisting late night messages into some grand conspiracy that the FBI was trying to help Hillary Clinton win. This despite all the known facts: that Trump and his campaign were quietly being investigated for colluding with Russia, that James Comey inexplicably broke FBI procedure to publicly announce Hillary Clinton’s email investigation had been re-opened (and closed just as quickly, but not before blaring headlines nationwide) and that senior FBI agents in the New York City office were regularly leaking information to Rudy Giuliani.

With that background in mind, Strzok took his turn in the congressional hot seat and former prosecutor Rep. Trey Gowdy went to work, badgering Strzok for fifteen minutes, barely letting Strzok respond to his questions, questions that were more statement and innuendo than fact probing. When Trey Gowdy’s time was finally up, Strzok finally got an opportunity to reply and this was an absolute obliteration of Trey Gowdy and Donald Trump. If you do nothing else today, watch both of Strzok’s responses to Trey Gowdy.

.@TGowdySC, who was supposed to have 5 minutes to ask Strzok questions, has been ranting for coming up on 25 minutes now. @RepGoodlatte simply refuses to end the madness. pic.twitter.com/YSLXontBYH

After Gowdy concludes his rant by dismissively saying he doesn't "give a damn" what Strzok thinks, Strzok points out that his private anti-Trump texts came in response to Trump insulting "the immigrant family of a fallen war hero" during the campaign. pic.twitter.com/SNzIi9sbAV

STRZOK characterizes the House Republican charade as "deeply corrosive to what the FBI is in American society, the effectiveness of their mission and deeply destructive." A smattering of applause breaks out in chamber. pic.twitter.com/UO1tk974r3

More from Peter Strzok after Rep. Goodlatte suggests he should have taken himself off the case because he had a political opinion. Everyone has a political opinion! It’s called patriotism!

“It’s an impossible definition to say, ‘People must not have political opinion.’ Everyone does. the test is whether or not that is left behind when you’re doing your job,” Peter Strzok says http://cbsn.ws/2urHVAi

Strozk is a man possessed, he is not an honorable man, he is a political hack, a leftist ideologue, and he should never have been allowed to serve in the FBI, let alone be elevated to a position of power and influence. His adulterous affair with his fellow FBI paramour violated the agency's code of conduct, and their underhanded plot to interfere, disrupt, undermine, and otherwise destroy a presidential nominee, then his presidency is scandalous, unconstitutional and goes against the American rule of law and system of justice. The man is without virtue, compassion, and honor. He is a living lie. He is in dire need of an exorcist.

That, of course, is what YOU say, and we all know that you’re a glib troll. Strozk certainly showed the the world that his questioners were a bunch of purely partisan quacks who put party above country. Strozk told the truth and shamed the Republicans over and over and over. That, at least, is the general consensus among the informed. That’s one round Strozk won.

Is it not a pyrrhic victory?

Because it was ego fighting ego, and fighting dirty. Whether one identifies with the aggressor and "wins" as long as his team is up, or with the underdog who "wins" by just remainging in the fight with an occasional brilliant countermove, if its all ego and no common ground, no useful work is accomplished.

And, so, who is minding the store? And, why, really?
