I respectfully disagree. In the post WW2 period the US was just about the only major nation whose economy was not bombed out and in shambles. To support our allies we allowed some of these sweet trade deals that screwed our companies and allowed access to our huge market. With the split between the US lead free world, and the Soviet and Chinese lead slave nations the tradition trade routes and alliances were cut off.
Our market was big enough to handle it although over time many of our industries were hurt by it. Now we are in a different world. Besides allowing our allies, we also allowed China to royally screw us in order to open up them to our influence. China and our former allies no longer need to be taken care of. It is now time to level the playing field. The economy is strong enough to weather the short term pain of these trade skirmishes. This is stuff that Young Barry Obama should have taken on.

OK....the Florida article is not because of illegal aliens not being available.
Do you even read what you post?
"Perfect weather has resulted in a bountiful crop that’s caused a glut on the market and low prices. Demand is down. Winter storms have kept people out of grocery stores and restaurants along the east coast where much of Florida’s produce would normally be sold.
Meanwhile, Mexico has become a year-round producer of cheap tomatoes and also experienced ideal growing conditions and huge crops as have Arizona and California. Florida’s agricultural industry is wondering why the much-touted buy local movement isn’t helping more.
The result: A harsh lesson in agricultural economics."
And the Alabama 'mater story is weak at best.
A tiny 125 acre farm that needs to be supported by 64 men who work it for 4 months a year?
Does that farmer pay all those men in tomatoes for working such a small yield?
Was this Brian Cash guy paying his illegal workers slave wages so they up and left for better opportunity?
And last, but not least....the highly slanted, fake news The Guardian?
Really?
This wasn't even a "nice try" moldy.
Dude, you must be running out of stuff to say cuz this was pathetic.

It's the liberals/progressives/communist's that are going banana's. I suppose that causing riots and harassing people is taking the high road. Then you are in serious trouble with your thinking. Have the conservative's ever harassed and harangued people of the opposite part to the extent that this is going on today. I believe not!! Your people have gone so par off the deep end to become psychotic.

Try, I mean really really try to get past the point that this is Trump, whom you hate, that is trying to rectify the unfair trade practices of our good friends, the Europeans and the Chinese and yes the Canadians. Look at the trade situation as it is. President Trump is doing what Clinton, Bush II, and Obama did not do. Trump is actually telling our trade partners that America is no longer their patsy. Here is some background.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/02/politics/donald-trump-steel-tariffs-q-and-a/index.htmlCillizza: Nebraska GOP Sen. Ben Sasse said of the tariffs that "the President is proposing a massive tax increase on American families." Explain.
Gillespie: Sasse is right. Companies don't bite the bullet on tariffs. They raise prices on consumers. In January, Trump slapped tariffs on foreign-made washing machines. Several days later, LG said it was raising prices as a result of the tariffs. LG and the stores that it sells in can weather higher prices. The question is how much American consumers are willing to pay.
Cillizza: Finish this sentence: "The most likely economic outcome of Trump's move on steel is _____________." Now, explain.
Gillespie: "Retaliation."
If Trump goes forward with across-the-board tariffs, Canada, the European Union and China will quickly respond. Trump often says that he seeks an "America First" policy, and that other nations should seek policies that put their nations first. Well, that's exactly what will happen. Other governments want to protect their workers just as much as Trump wants to protect steel and aluminum jobs.
When countries retaliate with tariffs against US goods, that's a trade war.

Short term pain for long term gain. We are the premier market place in the whole universe. These countries need to sell to us more than we need to buy from them. Our markets can always find new sources of goods. We will adjust. All of these nations MUST sell their CRAP somewhere. They will soon be flooding each other's market places with their over capacity goods.
China HAS to keep it's people working. Idle hands are the Devil's play thing. The Communist Leadership needs to crush freedom to stay in power. If the slaves are not busy they will begin to want their freedoms. In Europe the Socialists have enough welfare to keep that from happening, but it still will not be pretty.
