NFL History on Demonstrations

I hope this helps us to understand just when the public’s respect for the
NFL organization started to crumble....

- In 2012 the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling for each game to
pray, they also had an issue with Tebow wearing John 3:16 as part of his
eye-black to avoid glare, and made him take it off.

- In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to
raise awareness for people with mental health disorders.

- In 2014 Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference
wearing a shirt that said "Know Jesus Know Peace" but was forced to turn it
inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium.

- In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing "Find the Cure" eye
black for breast cancer awareness.

- In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise
awareness for domestic violence. (Not that the NFL has a domestic violence
problem...).

- In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on
their helmet in honor of 5 Dallas Police officers killed in the line of
duty.
- In 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats
to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11

So tell me again how the NFL supports free speech and expression, all of a
sudden... It seems quite clear based on these facts that the NFL has taken a
position against any action by NFL players demonstrating RESPECT for any
issue: For God, social causes such as mental health, cancer, domestic
violence, for cops killed arbitrarily for being cops, for the Memory of
9/11...

But, they will allow demonstrations of DISRESPECT for our National Flag, our
National Anthem, for America, and for the American People, if it will help
mollify a particular Group and its supporters. That is who and what the NFL
has shown itself to be.

That bit of NFL history kinda puts things in perspective; thanks to the author. But worth mentioning... I have my own little demonstration going on: I have "taken a knee" as regards the NFL. Right, I haven't watched an NFL football game for more than a year; I missed it at first, but by the end of the season I was quite disengaged. Now I automatically tune out NFL game results. Plus, I pay a lot more attention to college football and NASCAR and... stuff that matters. Give it a try this year. It feels good.

Honor our military, too many of whom have come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

Not only have I stopped watching NFL, I also refuse to remain in the area of someone discussing NFL games and scores. To me, discussing the NFL in anything but derogatory terms is an aggravation. Hope they go out of business!

Their taking a knee wasn't about disrespecting the National Anthem, the flag or America's armed forces.

It was to protest the mistreatment of blacks by the police.

Well they chose the wrong venue to do it. Overpaid prima donnas, they should go into the neighborhoods where the problems exist and educate. Most of the people they are protesting for can’t afford to go and watch men play a “game”.

Bullshit, most blacks force law enforcement officers into physical contact, then turn into whinny crybabies when they get their ass whipped, or even shot, by the police.

There is a simple solution to prevent any mistreatment, regardless of skin color, ... when a police officer says, "You're under arrest, come with me.", keep your mouth shut and go. If you think the policeman is wrong, ... that's why we have courts.

Don't run your stupid mouth, don't resist arrest, don't flee on foot or in a car, just obey the officer and your chance of being harmed by the police is almost exactly zero!

Exactly. This is all about pushing the progressive communist lefts agenda through propaganda. Anything that does not promote the lefts agenda is demonized. Everything we are seeing is designed for distraction. The progresdive left and their billionaire masters who control the deep state does not want you focusing on their democrat operatives from the last administration.

Progressive left politics are a direct threat to the United States and its citizens. Sedition and treason charges needs to be enforced against the communist left along with threats against our current President and his family.

And many DO give back to their communities, without fanfare. They open community centers, support the Big Brother and tutoring programs, contribute to higher education programs, and so much more. Those aren't empty gestures, they change lives.

You're watching too much Faux News. They're also shot with bodycams conveniently "malfunctioning", and too many incidents of police violence are caught on camera (usually cell phones); like being shot through the window of a car while reaching for identification, or while driving away (peacefully) from a party...police intimidation and violence against people of color happens all too frequently and without just cause.

Very rare incidents. I've seen all of them. In most cases, they were verbally antagonizing the officer, at the very least. In the others, the suspect was physically resisting or doing something stupid. In a very few cases, the suspect did nothing wrong, ... I can only think of one. The officer should be charged in any case that he is using excessive force and wrong. But again, simple instructions, shut up, hands up, and hook up (handcuffs), you'll have your day in court, ... alive. Don't get stupid, and your odds of not getting hurt are almost zero.

iamdjchrys: This statement of you're shows your complete lack of logical cognitive thinking! The protocol required them to show respect for the flag at the moment! If you have a beef take that issue to another forum and piss and moan! The nil will pay dearly for this debacle !
