First off, fix your question the first question is not a complete sentence. You missed the important word. I’m going to assume that you meant to ask why people think he wants to be a dictator.

Secondly, you say he wants to reduce federal regulations and protect gun rights. That is just not true. Trump actually advocated violating the 2nd Amendment. For all the rhetoric that Obama was going to “come for your guns” he never did that. The whole attack on Obama was a way to boost the already booming gun sales. When polls showed Hillary in the lead, gun manufacturers and sales industries went into high gear, because liberals are painted as gun opponents who want to repeal the second amendment.

When Hillary lost, the gun market had a huge surplus. Supply was enormous and demand was low. The prices bottomed out. And guns were plentiful and cheap. Why do you suppose that is? It’s because the liberals are not afraid of tyranny that would require an armed coups. Liberals don’t shoot leaders they disagree with. Liberals march in the streets. Liberals go out and register voters. “Conservatives” try like hell to suppress the vote. They do gerrymandering to maximize their control of government even though they are a minority of voters.

Back to Trump. Trump wants to be a dictator more than I want a new car and a pay raise. Here are some of the ways I know that:

He demonizes the free press, calls them “Fake News” and the enemy of the people. (You know what Fake News actually is? The propaganda generated by Russia in a [successful] effort to put Trump in power.)
Trump undermines our system of government. He demands absolute loyalty and fires anyone who doesn’t “kiss his ring”. Those who he cannot fire, he attacks their integrity and calls them “leakers” and partisan witch hunters.
He acts completely in his own self interests. He kept his taxes hidden and didn’t divest in his businesses and eliminate his conflicts of interest.
He put his family in positions of power. (and he said he was giving control of his financial dealings to his family, so even if he DID put them in charge, he gave THEM conflicts of interest).
He won’t listen to advisors. He fires them and then says he doesn’t need to fill the vacant position anyway. (Who needs advisors when you are the smartest guy ever to hold office?)
He shuns our allies, breaks treaties (Like the Paris Climate Accord and the Iran Nuclear Deal). He praises foreign dictators and authoritarian leaders. (Russia, China, North Korea, etc).
He has private meetings with no accountability. He invited Russian spies into the Oval Office right after he took office. No else was invited and the meeting was not reported to the press or even to Congress.
He still says that Hillary is a criminal. (For having emails on a non-secure server) and he still to this day, uses his own unsecured cell phone. He wants to punish his critics, but behaves above the law.
He illegally tears public records to teeny tiny shreds. (He is legally obligated to protect them.) A whole team of agents were tediously taping the documents back together. He fired them. Again, he is acting above the law, and it is pretty much the same thing that he claims Hillary did— destroying government documents.)
His tolerance radical, racist extremists. The people who have all the guns are on his side, and letting them have their guns is entirely in Trump’ self interest.
Saber rattling, and self agrandizing. He was calling Kim Jung Un “Little Rocketman” not so long ago, then when he was invited to meet the guy he is trying to get awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
His attacks on protesters. Idolizing the flag over the people. He also said the Democrats who did not applaud him at the State of the Union address were committing treason because they didn’t clap for him. (Obama actually was heckled when he gave the SOTU address. Remember? “You lie!” Shouted out from a congressman.)
I cannot seem to turn off the numbers, but I don’t want to continue listing reasons. There are so many many more examples. I’m sure some will add to this list in the comments, but for now, I have to go to work real soon, and I cannot devote any more time to this. I hope I didn’t have typos, because I’m not taking time to proofread my answer.
Edit: I realized I failed to address the part of the question about deregulation. Here goes…. The regulations have a purpose. They keep the rich from gaming the system (again) and thereby crashing the whole blessed economy (again). They also keep workers safe and paid a decent wage. They allow for the “rest of us” to to be able to breathe clean air, have safe drinking water, and generally participate in society. Deregulation will boost corporate profits, and the stocks will go up (for a time) as investors buy up the shares to enrich themselves by cutting corners on things like worker safety and corporate responsibility for products that negatively affect health and safety of the consumers. This creates more problems for the working class, and creates much further income inequality. Here’s why that’s a bad thing regarding the dismantling of democracy and makes the fella at the top more of a despot: Income inequality breeds oligarchy, if not kleptocracy. The rich will hold ALL the power, more than they do even now. And who is the biggest most powerful rich guy who will benefit? Trump, of course! He would become unfettered. He could postpone the next election, or cancel the whole damned thing and declare himself “leader for life” something he has PUBLICLY expressed a desire to become. His lack of transparency alone disqualifies him for office. By hiding his tax statements and all his financial dealings, he can continue to use the office to enrich himself, and strengthen his grip on power. Hey, presto! A despot is born! That is why de-regulation is not at all a sign of a benevolent or competent leader.

I hope you feel better after getting that off of your chest, Mr. Permadupe.

King Trump is doing a stellar job of wadding your little panties up.

It's sad to see an old grisly peckerwood in such a state of turmoil.

You ain't seen nothin' yet, permaschtoop.

King Trump has only just begun to rain on you Goober's little tirade parade.
