New Study Deals Huge Blow to Evolutionary Theory

Evolution is a settled science. We’ve all heard it countless times. Well, new evidence puts that lie to the fire. A recent study proves that evolution (and science in general) is far from settled. Take a look at what is rocking the biology world.

The Study

This particular study was run through the Rockefeller University and University of Basel in Switzerland. The chief scientists are David Thaler and Mark Stoeckle. For those of you with a cursory interest in scientific methodologies, this one is a little interesting. A technique for handheld gene testing was developed to determine if sushi bars were really selling what they claimed. That started a genetic database of animal species that was eventually adopted to include countless samples from hundreds of thousands of different animals.

The scientists of this study analyzed the findings of those handheld tests to look for genetic diversity among species. The prevailing theory is that more prolific species will show more genetic diversity. To put it simpler terms, a species (such as humans) that numbers in the billions and thrives on multiple continents will face wider adversity than a species that numbers in the thousands and only exists in one region. The idea is that humans, in this example, face a wider range of adversity and need more variant DNA to cope. It sounds logical if you subscribe to evolution by natural selection.

What surprised the scientists is that this isn’t the case. They looked at DNA from 100,000 different species that range wildly in proliferation. Across all of their samples, they found no significant difference in genetic diversity. What was equally surprising is that their study suggested that the vast majority of animals sampled have not existed on this earth for more than 200,000 years.

What it Means

If you had to learn the basics of evolution in school, you already have an idea of how big a deal this is. It turns the bulk of the theory on its head and introduces very important questions. The first major contradiction is that most evolutionists agree that the most recent cataclysmic event in Earth’s history happened about 65 million years ago (the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs).

That leaves a lot of questions as to why animals today are so much younger than science previously thought. We’re talking about being wrong by 32,500 percent. That’s a pretty big miss.

This finding also demonstrates the need for vastly more “missing link” species than were previously thought. That fossil evidence simply doesn’t exist. We have plenty of bones that are claimed to be millions of years old. And, we have plenty from the modern age of animals. Why are all of the bones between 200,000 and 65 million years of age missing?

Most importantly, this punches a giant hole in the notion of evolution through natural selection (Darwin’s crowning achievement). As we already said, prolific species encounter many more dangers and obstacles to reproduction. Logic dictates that they would have to make more adaptations. Evolution through natural selection claims that increasing genetic diversity is what generates and reproduces those adaptations. With an animal sample that is 200,000 years old (at the oldest) and accounting for all animal life at the moment, we should be able to observe this theory in action.

Instead, we see nothing measurable. To make this as clear as possible, this is one of the most directly measurable — and therefor scientifically viable — experiments in the history of evolutionary science. It sees exactly zero evidence that evolution has ever taken place on our planet.

Now, we have to be completely fair. This is one study. It, alone, doesn’t fully unravel all of evolutionary theory. What it does is demonstrate how underdeveloped this branch of science is as a whole. The bulk of evolution is extremely hard to test, and this is one of the best tests we have. If this experiment is reproducible, it will mean that evolution requires some massive revisions to have any hope of remaining viable.

There’s one more angle we didn’t discuss. A major catastrophe or “reset” is missing from the scientific ledger. The Bible, on the other hand, poses two potential answers. This could be because of the flood, or it could be when God created everything in the first place. We won’t get into age-of-earth arguments here, but science just put up a huge case for creation. Score another one for Christianity.
