I have no problem with the governor vetoing this bill as it would have allowed anyone who could legally purchase a firearm to carry it concealed without a license, but more importantly without any training. When I got my CCP I had to have firearms safety training before I could get my license, even though I had plenty of training in the military. I also had to demonstrate my proficiency with a couple of different handguns. I really don't want a bunch of untrained people running around with concealed weapons, that's just crazy.

The following states currently have unlicensed concealed carry; Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
The chart below shows the murder rates of the 50 states. You will notice that six of the states with unlicensed carry have either the lowest or among the lowest murder rates compared to states with much stricter laws. You will also note that Missouri has a very high rate. States that don't require a license have murder rates ranging from the very lowest to the second highest. I will also state that in Alabama, almost every one of it's murders happened in in either Birmingham or Mobile. The rate for the rest of the state is among the lowest in the country.
Rates are calculated per 100,000 population.
