The Humor Behind The BS Call, Someone Calls BS On Something That's Not, How Can They Be Sure They Are Right?

This was years ago, I play dead straight with people on sites, and I join into things because sometimes points need to be made.

Again, five years ago I did a mean thing to some of the patriots on Gunbroker, getting tired of the BS call on things that I'd done, that I'd know best, one person says that's BS and a hundred little Gerbils pile on certain that because so many people believe it that they are right, that this is fact.

My brother who was deployed in Iraq in desert storm was in crypto intelligence. He invited a famous sniper friend of his he had met over there to the house since the guy was relatively close to here on an Easter holiday, we had a few people over for dinner. This was a well documented and actually famous sniper. We were talking about the social media BS call, and I told him that several guys who were snipers had been beat up horribly with the BS call. He agreed to join Gunbroker, and when asked what he'd done in the military he said he was a sniper. He had all kinds of questions coming at him (from famous troll hunters), and he'd answer what he could. He didn't like talking about confirmed kills so he wouldn't, but he was in the top five. That he never acknowledged. Someone asked him what the longest shots he'd done were, and he gave a general, well over 1500 yards, I actually knew it was well over 1500. Of course someone made the BS call, and the fun was on. Here was a bunch of armchair warriors calling a guy they would consider to be a hero a bullshitter. He answered questions honestly and truthfully, but this is how morons roll. Once the call was made only a couple of people had the balls to say wait a minute, you have no way of knowing he isn't what he says he is.

I admire the people who have the courage to make the BS call on the ones who are full of crap.

I like this because it makes a point. This person "Sniper" acted as a true soldier. I spent 11 years active and 27 reserve. My time in reserve was in training. While active we did 14 months in Iraq, 04-05. Did 9 months in Afghanistan, 12. Before that had a mission in Panama in 85. A mission in South Korea in 88. Taiwan, Japan, Germany and so many more. I never talk about it. My family or friends when they ask, I just say, it was a mission. A true soldier understands that civilians can never truly understand the reasons why we are crazy enough to do this, or the reasons for the mission. And if a person hasn't been boots on the ground, they can not begin to understand. So it's best to just say nothing. I was in Intell. So there is no way I can ever discuss anything. Got a breast full of medals, don't really mean anything to me. Could take them all to Starbucks, bet I couldn't get a cup of coffee for all of them. Don't mean shit.

The craziest guy I ever knew was a green beret. He was a tunnel rat, it took guys that volunteered for this. That wasn't enough sheer raw adrenaline, he volunteered to get caught so that they could find the POW camps our guys were being taken to. He did two of these successfully, he was a different kind of "hero" for sure. Third mission he was taking a pee by a tree, his rifle propped up against the back side so he could be easily "caught". In catching him a soldier used his rifle butt against his jaw, breaking it. He was taken to a POW camp that moved around, and those who were supposed to keep an eye on him lost him, he was lost for over a year. He wasn't quite right after that and ended up getting out on a psychological evaluation.
