Now those are cats that our Cane Corso dogs could play with. How good are they in hunting rats and rabbits?

We have a semi-trailer I use to store junk and I leave the door cracked enough for the cats (regular sized ones) to take refuge if something bigger is chasing them. I went in there a few days back and found a huge dead jackrabbit. My cats catch anything stupid enough to ignore their smell.

You have cats living outside that is why. That is what animals do when outside. Check the racoons, they fight with outside cats too. They get the rabbits wondering around the backyard. Then the squirrels likewise eat the food of the birds placed in the bird feeder while flocks of birds chase them above. That is survival of the fittest.

But I take care of my cat inside. They live longer when inside and given medical care and proper food. To me it is so much joy and comforting to have these beautiful cats.

We have a cat door so they're in and out cats during the daytime but come in at night.

I had to have my oldest kitty put down 6 months or so ago. She was 16 or 17...I catnapped her from a dope fiend in 2003. Our oldest now is probably 12 or so. He was a stray who wandered in the cat door 9 years ago and decided to stay. I took him to the vet last month and he hated it, poor guy. We have 3 others...littermates. 2 shorthair males, jet black and a calico female. They're 8 now. Someone was kind enough to dump them...which is how we get most of our cats.

They bring live game in the house fairly frequently.

I enjoy reading your message about your cats. I could visualize how they behave and play. But anyways, God love them all that is why they were created for us.

If you like cats read The House Guests by John D. MacDonald who authored the Travis McGee Mysteries.

Non fiction...the best cat story I ever read because it mirrors mine...and yours, too, I bet.

The first year we were here we planted fruit trees and the gophers killed them all. By the next year the cats had caught all the gophers (we have to import gophers now), we replanted fruit trees and now...if late frosts don't kill the fruit, neither do the gophers.

I'll certainly read that book. I know the gophers you are talking about. Years ago, before I moved to another city, the backyard on that previous home had various dug holes. I wondered who dug them out. But I think they were the gophers. I think they came out in the evening.

I love cats. Different bred of cats. I'm so fascinated of that Savanah and Link cat owned by Steve700. They are very rare species and very expensive I've found out.

Meanwhile, I only have one cat, white with blue eyes, 3 dark spots on top of her back, dark brown tail, and her head with dark spotted brown. I want to adopt another one. But I have to get one from the Humane Society to give home. Reasons why I have only one. My cat fights with other cats that enter her territory.

I think they are so beautiful and comforting.
