Today’s workers have the same choices they had over Obama’s when he cleaned up the mess left by Bush. As unemployment under Obama dropped from 10% to 4.7% it opened up choices. Trump is a pathological liar that took over a trend created by Obama.
Part time job increases due to the ACA only accounted for 3% increase.
There were 7.5 million increase under Obama where only 5.5 % of the workforce entered into part time employment.
The largest segment were the baby boomers retiring early and entering into part time employment. Then add in the number of women leaving full time employment due to the massive increases in Childcare cost meaning (Daycare Cost) the cost increase as a share of full time child care cost increased 168% over the last 20 years so instead of mom working full time she stayed home took care of the kids while daddy worked full time and mommy took a part time job. Then add in the number of kids headed to college entering the part time work force ages 20 to 24 and you have the largest increase of the part time workforce.
This comment by the right wing ignorance makes me want to vomit when only 3% of people leaving full time for part time was directly accredited to Obamacare. Where as of the last two years under Obama that 3% now was non existent but the ignorance continues.
There are so many reasons why people choose to leave full time employment but right wing stupidity only points to Obamacare. It was a cherry picked talking point by Fox News and Fox ignored all other reasons that were put out by the BLS.
