Sorry about the late reply, I was fighting power outages all day and just got back on line at about midnight.

Your heart, obviously, isn't shriveled.

Hearts, in fact, are the only part of us that grows with age.

Intellect with some of us, as well...a by-product of suffering. That would be me.

Well I'm sorry to hear you've been suffering, life certainly has a way of bringing us to our knees sometimes.

I was thwarted by several Polish Beauties, they were Catholic and serious about it. I wasn't in their lives when they matured and I had latched on to a beautiful, dark haired, Irish-German woman and outlasted all of her other suiters. She married me out of pity.

You do know, what I said ,was in jest. I wasn't offended, all the same will shut down perogie production at once.

Dumplings and sausages, oh my, where do I stand or what do I have to to say to get pummeled?

I have a song for you out of the woods.

It's entitled "Out of the Woods".

Hope you like it.

I loved it too, was Allison Krause a part of the group once? Had forgotten about Nickel Back, thanks for reminding me.

That a horse of a different color. I'll whip up a batch and fling some your way, just perogies though, impossible to get good kielbasa up here. The best is in Philadelphia.

That's mighty kind of you, thanks. If you get the chance, try some dried Portuguese sausage called Kadish, a friend from Boston, got a package from home and shared some... to die for.

Now, what the hell happened here. I start a post about my Irish heritage. Next thing I know I'm flinging Polish food all the way to Texas. ? Has anyone done any genealogy research. ? My husband, whose family goes way back in America, 1700s, found he is related to such far flung personages as Pretty Boy Floyd and Laura Ingalls Wilder . He went so far as to send a blood sample, and was able to see all the areas that match up chromosomally(is this a word?) I find it fascinating. He discovered there's a touch of Irish in there, not enough to qualify as far as I'm concerned.

Make your own! Stan Marianski has an excellent book with all of the recipes which were Polish State certified and approved for Polish exports. As far as those Pierogi go I want mine with Sauerkrut and Gołąbki on the side.

Well not really, but we have a castle, or the ruins of one. Magner Castle, I gather we were wealthy landowners, then I gather, half the family got drunk and lost the castle. Anyone else done research into their family tree? I'm also half Polish, not so much info there.

Yes I have. Turns out I’m descended from Brian Boru, the first clan leader to be called the King of Ireland, after the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. His descendants ended up in County Clare and, in 1840, Tobias Kelleher left for America from Cork City. He disembarked in NYC then proceeded to upstate NY for an eight year indenture. Upon completion, he bought a small farm in Clayton County, Iowa. The land, though no longer farmed, was still in the family during my childhood in the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Stuffed cabbage right. Never saw the spelling, Baba made the best, I grew up calling it halupki. My father would take us into Philadelphia to visit my great uncle John and Ann his wife, and without fail Ann would make Kapusta? Sauerkraut with Kielbasa and caraway seeds. Sometimes we would walk to the Polish butcher and factory and see all the smoked meats. Wasn't much fun at five. Then Uncle John would take my father to his basement, or mancave, he was like 80. They would smoke their pipes and drink something strong, had a buffalo on the label and grass in the bottle, then Dad would rest up so we could make the long ride home. They always sent my sister and I home with a jar of whiskey soaked cherries, four of those and I was lit. Nowadays, they would be arrested. Ah, for the old days! When Baba was about 90, I spent some time with her, learning her recipes and according to my Dad, did a fair job capturing them. Nothing in writing, just a touch of this, a pinch of that.

Wow, thats really far back, just refreshed myself on the origins of Magner , its extensive, thought to have come with the Norman invasion.
I'm also related to Toye, Seymour, Burke. Here's my castle.
