Broward County School Superintendent Robert Runcie started the "Promise Program" back in 2013. Runcie came from the Chicago school system. Once on board in Broward he started the Promise Program. He noticed that a disproportionate amount for school suspension and minor grimes were being committed by black males and gays. Runcie was able to get the Broward County Sheriff's office to stop arresting students for minor crimes. This later morphed into a program not to arrest students even if the crimes were violent felonies. Runcie cut suspension by 60% this was done to qualify for federal grants. If you are looking for a reason as to why nothing was done about Nikolas Cruz take a look at the policies of the Broward County Sheriff's Department and the School Board's policies. It has now com to light that four Broward County officers were outside the high school and they never went in to deal with the killer. Broward County Sheriff Steve Israel should be immediately fired. These 17 students died because of failed Chicago style liberal policies that basically do nothing to protect citizens. These same policies are the reason Chicago see so many shooting and murders on a daily basis.

Chicago, like most of the places with very strict gun control laws have the highest crime rates. Not really surprising since criminals are the only ones with guns..Law abiding citizens can't protect themselves. Criminals have guns because they don't worry about gun control laws because they are criminals, they obviously don't obey the law. We've all heard these things before, but the liberal elites control what the kids are taught in schools, and what the MSM reports.They'll NEVER let the truth or the facts get in the way of what they believe or preach.They're not really interested in keeping the peoplesafe, it's about keeping them in power. I've never understood why SO MANY are willing to follow the lies of the EXTREME LEFT( not the ordinary, Democrat citizens) lies or how SO MANY women and minorities are NOT offended when the Political Leaders, MSM,etc tell them that they're not smart enough or qualified enough to make it on their own merits, they need the government to carry them and provide all the needs of the LITTLE PEOPLEAs a woman, I've always been offended by the philosophy that we need BIG BROTHER to carry us.

One more instance of federal corruption in mandatory “education “. Who do some people refuse to see the manipulation and the outcomes of it?? The federal destruction of the university has created a financial bubble larger than the subprime bubble in 2008, 1.5 trillion dollars, which cannot be repaid and is disenfranchising a generation of mellenials. At the high school level, it has imprisoned the students in a straitjacket of mediocrity. As we have sown, so are we reaping.

Like usual, the left wants the only firearms in a school to be in the hands of school shooters. I, for one, do not want my grandchildren to be used as target practice! I want them to be kept safe while in school. Schools should at least make an attempt to keep the children in their care safe, not set them up as free pickings to any mass murderer.

I have never heard of any statistics that show gays commit more crimes than heterosexuals. I'm sorry I can't say the same for blacks. Yet still it is the crimes which should be addressed, not the identity box of the crime perpetrator.

Agree, but many times the color of the perpetrator's is used to show discrimination. I have seen schools do this so they can cut down on suspensions and qualify for Federal grant money.

No, it was FOUR, though only one was there initially as the SRO. the other three were Sheriff's Deputies that arrived, pulled their service pistols and hid behind their patrol cars. This info came from Coral Gable Springs officers who arrived and entered the building while the others remained behind their patrol cars.
