Getting old with good neighbors..

While getting old is not for the thin skinned or chicken hearted, I felt I was doing quite well at it.
The Christmas came and the local lions brought out a bag of assorted fruit for the old people.. Well OK, they seem like nice group of people.. thanks.
Then yesterday we get the first meaningful snowfall since November.. the neighbor brings over his plow, clears the parking and drive area and goes back home.
Call him up, try to pay and he refuses.. Now the lady of the house is making cookies to send over in exchange..
for a conservative, he is a real nice guy.. Just kidding. Do not know his political lean or if he has one.
But good man he definitely is..
but I hate to be the old guy at the end of the road.. I was shoveling off my steps so he felt I could use a hand.
Darn nice place to live..

perma, Your neighborhood certainly swounds like the"good old days". Too bad people aren'tstill so hospitable any more. I guess that back then, people didn't have to worry about getting shot when they went outside.

I'm lucky to be living in the same kind of area. I think there's a LOT of darn nice people in America. Too bad we can't just sweep out the trash.

I agree with you, While we have had people move in and a few move out, only one bad one in all these years..

This has been the way of life here in my area from the time I became aware of what was going on around me .

Perm, I’m glad you have people who care enough to help. I live down a one lane gravel road with only one neighbor a quarter mile away and I have been privileged and happy to get to be the one clearing her driveway in the winter and making sure she’s ok. Fishing season is rapidly approaching, my friend.

with the great minds on both the right and the left(and the in between,where I feel I'm at)

That is a very good idea bobby and seems so easy when a bunch of us can simply gab about things without having a hissy fit..
