And if Obama was in office you would be applauding everyone that stayed home. Amen brother indeed...

I was taught in grammar school & high school that American etiquette is such presidential invitations are not to be declined & they take precedence over all other social obligations.
oThe first time that I remember a presidential invitation being declined was when Bill Cosby refused a White House invitation from President Richard Nixon to one of the affairs that are regularly given to figures of cultural and entertainment importance. Cosby refused on the grounds that he did not agree with the policies of the administration.
The point was that it was not his business to agree or disagree with the administration's policies. It was not his prerogative to agree or disagree. The invitation was to be accepted. For years, presidents extended these invitations regardless of known political affiliations and cultural and entertainment figures accepted them regardless of affiliation.
The incident was a huge embarrassment for The White House & is believed to be the origin of the infamous 'enemies list' that came to light during the Watergate investigations. The White House wanted to avoid another embarrassment.
It should be stressed that this was done under the flag of liberalism. Then as now and always, liberals believed that it was within thei purview to override the judgment of the rest of the people. Their humility is perpetual.
How's that for some history PeterS?

Good American citizens should get back to 'respecting the office', but so many on the Left are too ignorant to at least do that. Did we come up names like "shootobama" or n-word from Hell? Hell no@ Personally I thought he seemed like a decent guy, someone I could sit down and have beer with, but his ideology stunk out loud. Couldn't wait until his Communist/Marxist ideology left the oval office. But I tried not to be offensive. The Left are ignorant, low class, trash white/black/ or Hispanic, take your pick.
