Me too, so I decided that my viewing spot was lying on the floor in front of the TV. Just reach up, turn the channel. We only had four channels. Also had to go out and turn the antenna with a pipe wrench.

The first TV I remember was in a cabinet with a LP player and radio on top. The TV screen was about 9". I think we had 3 stations. On weekends my sister and I would fight over what we would watch. She, because of a love of horses, wanted Westerns, I wanted Jungle Boy or anything but Westerns. Even back, then being the girl, we watched Westerns. BS on male dominance. Who controls the KEY?

I was born in July of 1950 and my dad went to war. He came home on leave and my sister was born in 1951 and he had to go back to war. He came back home from war and my next sister was born in 1952 and my brother was born in 1953. We still had that 9" tv with the LP player on top and were happy to have it.

Remember the LP player also. Not our first TV but our second. I was the oldest, with three younger sisters. So we watched what I wanted to watch Westerns. And then when we got older we would come in from school and watch Dark Shadows. When it went off we had 30 minutes before Mom and Dad came home to get our chores done. Talk about assholes and elbows. Of course every Saturday it was American Bandstand. Also the Ed Sullivan Show, can't remember what night. Every Sunday it was Welk and then Disney.

The first TV that I ever saw was in the late 40’s, it was about 9” by 9”screen, but had a big magnifying glass that set in front of the screen. There was only one TV station and it was only on from 6:00 pm until 10:00pm.
