Students in West Texas school district feel safe at school. The reason for this will prevent shooting in that district

I do believe that more and more districts will start to use this method of preventing shootings at schools. I was a teacher in the 50s through 80s when we didn't have to fear this kind of crime. We did have rules about knives, though. One Monday a "tough" boy pulled out a switchblade to show it to me. I just told him that I was breaking the rule but he should put it back in his pocket and never take it out again in my room. Less than 2 weeks later he got it out to prove how tough he was. I put him on his back and took the knife and stuck the thing in my desk. He just asked me how I threw him down so easy and my reply was that they thought us some things in the Army about self-defense. He never showed me another knife, anyway.

I would be very glad to pull my handgun in school at that school. How about that rule?

I am ex-military but I got out 61 years ago and don't think I would be much good. Now, when I was thrown out of a public school as a teacher, 32 years ago I would have been glad to be supplied a weapon, monthly training etc to "guard" kids. Yep, I think that most teachers are more attached to their kids than hired guards would be.

Ohmigod, Trump just said today that hired guards wouldn't ever "love" the kids as much as teachers would. I wonder how that deputy sheriff at Parland felt about the kids in the school. Maybe he was more of a leftist coward than most teachers there would have been.
