By now, everyone is aware that we've had another school shooting. So far this year, we're averaging a school shooting every 4 or 5 days..........and it isn't March yet. I'm wondering how many is TOO many? Is this going to be another tragedy we learn to think of as a new normal, or are we going to do something about it?

We can't arm students anymore, since it's students doing most of the shooting. We'd have Dodge city circa 1870 in every school. Imagine arming all the teachers, as has been suggested by the NRA, and we'd see gun battles in classrooms, with innocent students caught in the crossfire. I even heard a cop today say that they had to proceed with caution in these incidents, because they don't know who has a carry permit, and they don't want to kill an innocent gun owner.

So far, all we're getting from political leaders is "our hearts and prayers are with you" or some other useless drivel, instead of ideas on how to combat this new epidemic. The parents of dead or crippled children would rather have had someone save their child's life, rather than listen to idiotic platitudes after it's too late.

The right to lifers are strangely silent on this issue. Maybe they don't give a damn about a child's life outside the womb.

In my opinion..............one is "too many", but then, that's just me.

What a putz. What right to life group has or has not stepped into this fray? What’s your suggestion to combat this phenomenon? I’m a right to lifer and a gun owner. Because I don’t think banning guns is the answer that must mean I don’t care about life? How about banning violent video games, bullying, and violent movies? Try looking at the real reason. Hint it’s not guns.

It’s not the guns it’s the permissive society we have under the liberals, parents can’t discipline children or they end up in jail themselves.Giving up our right to own guns is all we have against a government of Obama’s and Soros power grab for their NWO.Like it or not we have some real screwed up kids out there and then we make marijuana legal, that will make things worse.

Couldn’t agree more. We all grew up with guns. 45 years ago all my friends had guns and we had no school shootings.

Hell Jim, back in the 60's we carried our shotguns and ammo to school during hunting season and kept them in our lockers. Never had a school shooting. Mike

Very true. It’s the culture and the medications. Gonna need metal detectors at all schools before long. Take this kid out next week and hang him on TV.

I used to walk right thru downtown with my friends going hunting on a Saturday, the only requirement was the gun had to have the breech open.No one paid any attention to us and no school shootings ever happened. We also use to bring them to school and store them in lockers.

Like all liberals all they can do is point out what they think is wrong no real recommendations to fix it.They won’t ever admit we never had problems like this in our youth because the liberals weren’t around to create them.

Indeed, kept my shotgun in my homeroom teacher's closet so I could go hunting after school. Other kids who lived further away had shotguns in the gun-racks in the back of their cars, no one was ever shot at school, and over a ten year period, there was one accidental wounding , cause, stupidity.

Here in VA. we can open carry or CC down main street and the same with long gun but it has to be open breech also. People still get freaked out by folks with a gun strapped on. Oh well, their problem. Mike

I don't know, but not talking about it is a sure way to ensure it keeps happening. There is absolutely no way to confiscate anybody's firearms. Most folks would ignore such a law, and hide weapons even if they formed a firearms gestapo and go door to door looking for them.

After a school shooting here, the police recommended installing metal detectors at the entrances, with electronic locks and cameras, denying entrance to anyone not authorized. Then.......they started arguing about who should pay for the stuff.................and not a single detector, camera or electronic lock has been installed anywhere.

There are 100's of parents, retired military/police, who would volunteer to man the school entrances, at no cost to the school, but when that was suggested here, the talk went to "liability" and those folks were turned down. At the school that had the most recent shooting, concerned Dad's showed up anyway, armed, just to make sure there were no problems until the doors were locked...............and the school had the police run them off, even arresting one of the Dad's.

America has it's collective head up it's ass, and our kids are paying the ultimate price. How much is a child worth? Less than $50, which would be the per-child cost of implementing security measures. That's a terribly sad statement about where our priorities lie.

How about putting prayer and God back in our schools, famalies and everyday life? Let’s see what happens. Things just might turn the other way.
