Daniel Greenfield has a fresh take on the current state of political infighting in Washington, DC. As usual, he pulls no punches:

"Accuse Republicans of treason, eavesdrop on their conversations and send them to jail. Overturn the outcome of a free election because that it had been tampered with by “foreign interests.” Demand that tech companies censor dissenting media outlets spreading “fake news” to protect “democracy”."

He goes on to say:

"Good work, comrades. The bold plan is to fight Russia by… becoming Russia."

"Totalitarian states aren’t really fighting foreign influences. They’re suppressing domestic opponents. The Democrats, who were for appeasing Russia before they were against it, are doing the same thing."

Oh my!

There is not a whole lot of difference between an American Democrat and and a Russian Communist. Just a slightly different accent.

Well, there is at least one fairly obvious difference; there are far more American Democrats than there are Russian Communists. The Russians had their flirtation with Communism and have been decidedly educated. Not since December 25, 1991 has a Russian Communist walked the hallowed halls of the Politburo. How's that for a Christmas present? Think God might have been sending a 'message'?

That sums it up very nicely.

OK, so just what is it we are to call those who are nose-to-butt with Putin?

Anyhow, I also think the differences between our democrats and Russian communists is remarkable only in the geological locations.

I also think that maybe our democrat totalitarians are leaning more towards the North Korean/Pol Pot-type.

I dunno, Put-ins? (Geddit? Ha! I made a funny!)

They're certainly not communists.

Well, actually... Russia is a 'democratic federative state (?)' based on the rule of law with a republican form of government. They even have a Constitution now. Communism to them is as much anathema as it is the the US, if not more so, after all they lived with it for over 70 years.

So, from what you say, those Ruskies are as much for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, can enjoy personal possession of firearms, and have a viable two or more party political system as we?

Noteworthy.

I can't believe the Russian citizens like living in the USSR and will take pains not to recreate such a system.

If that's democracy it's a weird one. Running against Putin pretty much insures your death at the least, being railroaded into charges of corruption and imprisonment at the least. Putin plays rough, Trump would love to silence the media Russian style.

Communism is dead in Russia, long live capitalism. Putin consolidated all of the oil companies, strange but wealthy oil magnates either joined or had their companies simply taken away from them.

Part of the new hard right seems to completely embrace Russia and all it stands for. They have a republican form of democracy, which looking at the way that's headed republicans with control do what they want with maintaining control being the operative goal.

For that to mean anything you can't be a Trump supporter, it's not possible.

I have a really hard time knowing who's being facetious here because of the sincerity of Trump ideals.

I can't tell whether you think dems are the new Russia or Trump's admin is. There is only one party that wants to drop sanctions and work with Putin, hell Trump still wants his Trump Moscow hotel.

I thought he did that years ago. Am I 'losing it' here?
