Luke chapter 2
Verse 1 - 20
These are events around the birth of Christ. Judea was ruled by Rome. They had everyone return to the city of their birth to pay taxes. This coincides with the birth of Jesus David was born in Bethlehem. 1 Samuel 16:1 Joseph and Mary were of David’s lineage and had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem. This is nine months after December and the temperature is warm enough for shepherds to still have their flocks outside. The wise men are only mentioned in Matthew and Jesus was a child by that time. Matthew 2:11 Why was Jesus born in a stable? Jesus is the lamb of God. Lambs are born in stables, not hospitals.
Verse 21 - 24
According to Jewish law established in Geneses 17:10 - 14, all males were circumcised on the 8th day. Muslims still circumcise at 13 years old. Females shouldn’t be circumcised at all. God never commanded it, it is barbaric and needs to stop.
Verse 25 - 35
While taking Jesus to Jerusalem to be circumcised, a devout man named Simeon bears witness that Mary and Joseph are raising a special child. The holy spirit has informed Simeon that he would see the Lord’s anointed before he died. He says now he can die in peace.
Verse 36 - 39
Anna, a widow and prophetess also bears witness that salvation has come to and through Jerusalem. Anna was 84 years old.
Verse 40 - 52
The account of a 12 year old Jesus amazing doctors with His intellect and understanding is only here. Joseph must have died soon after this, because the next time we hear of Jesus’ family Joseph is not mentioned. Jesus doesn’t start His ministry until He is 30.
Age 30 is the required age to become a rabbi and in an entire life, Vitamin K (which supports your bloods ability to clot) is at it's highest level, on the 8th day.
