In the late 50's I was stationed just outside of Bordeaux 'Camp Bussac' and recalled the anti-American feelings from the "Frogs"( that's what we called them )

pappadeux: I recall when DeGaul quit NATO, he ordered us out of France! Thanks to Eisenhower we dis-mantled every building, hanger, nut bolt and washer and left the frogs to their stupidity! A friend of mine was a Air Force Civil Engineer in Germany just before the French left NATO.....He tells the story: One day he walked out to a large training fence separating military training functions from His main base to fellowship with one of His German Engineers . He noticed the French on the other side of the fence playing war games, and He said: "Frans what are you doing?" Frans replied! " Just watching them practicing to lose another one!"

When France got rid of the French Foreign Legion which was made up of a lot of WW11 Nazis because they were too brutal and by the way very effective, they lost in Viet Nam. I don't think the French people are stupid, they just consider other stuff other than their own well being more important. Mike
