Hello everyone!
As you can see, I am new to this site. I am interested in the opinions of everyone. I love discussions but am not really into fights. I am Pro Life, I think that a child has rights whether in the womb or not. I think that people who are in need should be helped, but I think that limits must be placed on what and for how long. I think that our future is not just with our children but with the actions of each and every person. I have reason to question the new and improved educational system. That is, some of the new ideas are great, but we should not do away with the tried and true methods of the past. I do not think that climate change can be all attributed to humans; but I think that we are the current curators of the world and need to be responsible in using natural resources and keeping it clean. Also, I vote based on performance, history, and qualifications of the candidate and not on political lines.

That is me in a nutshell. Now the one question that you may have; why did I want to join OPP. I wish to learn form each of you. Now does that not sound corny? One thing I must warn you, I am not an English major so at times I will misspell words, use the wrong word, and my punctuation is horrible. Having said that, I hope that it is clear enough for you to get an idea of what I am trying to say.

Welcome to the lion's den! Just a warning about being middle-of-the-road here, you may get run over from both sides. (just a little friendly hazing). Seriously though, you won't find much moderation here, mainly because people only tend to post strong opinions, which are never moderate. Best wishes.

Welcome Happy J. I also am pro-life. Some of my posts are extreme and sometimes combative. Hey I'm no angel, I just believe in them. I am looking forward to your input as you seem to be well read and resourceful .

Thank you for the warm welcome and the warning. I am okay with people shooting holes in what I say, sometimes they are right. But, I must warn folks I am not a door mat and I will stand up for principals. Heck, I have been known to go to battle for others. I love people that have strong opinions and I have read some of yours, you and I are not that far in beliefs apart. You are not so stiff that a good wind will break you, nor are you so wispy washy that you will give up your beliefs to make others feel good. That I respect!

Hello Wolf!

If we wanted people to all think the way we want, then we should go into a closet and talk to ourselves. I enjoy a good civil but impassioned exchange. None are angels, regardless of the face we wear for others. So, I am in good company because I too am called extreme by some of my friends.

Happy to have you in the organization. Now for the norms of behavior.

Always be courteous. Always tell the truth as you believe it. Be short and concise. Do not post 100 plus points of BS. Stay on topic.

But the most important thing is to realize that these rules are not followed on this site.

After the 40th page or was it the 3rd page it's mostly personal chatter.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I can be long winded. But, for the most part, I think if you can not state your point in a thousand words or less then you are over explaining or defending your belief. I like to have data to support my positions, but they come from books and I do not think most people can recognize a book two out of three times. I will give my references, but feel it is up to an interested reader to look it up. I refuse to quote the entire chapters for enlightenment, but I will paraphrase. And to the end of being courteous, I strongly believe that name calling does not support or add any quality to a post. Passion is good, anger is not a defendable position. One must put aside the compulsion of reaching through the computer screen to beat the crap out of an individual who is incapable of seeing another point of view.

Now then, thank you for the advice. I will keep your pointers in mind while posting. I am grateful that you took the time to "show me the ropes."
