Jesus didn't say the United States should take care of the world. We have been doing that for my lifetime, plus paying other countries part in the UN. Every nation has poor people. Jesus said that we would always have poor people. We can only do so much. It is wonderful that people have a heart for the poor, but charity does begin at home. Once we take care of the poor who want to be helped, then we can work on the rest of the world.

I resent this kind of reasoning so much. First, this is no nation that helps others as much as the USA. But, helping others does not require taking them all into our home when we can easily help them in their homes. Our country includes people from many other countries, people who came here the legal way because they wanted to become Americans, who were willing to learn out language, who were willing to leave behind their old countries/customs/way of life and make a all needed changes to fit into our society and pledge allegiance only to America. Just as an individual has every right to choose whom he invites, or allows, into his home, so does a nation because the nation ixx the "home" of its people, its citizens. To insist on keeping our home for our people and being very selective about whom we allow into it is our right and our obligation.

Encourage and lift them up all you want, you can even go live with them,
but don't open our borders to the whole world that wants to live off our welfare without contributing anything to pay for it.

So as apposed to helping them improve their own nation you want to bring them here and render our nation comparable to theirs? You, in my opinion are daft. Mike (and I'm being kind)

RRRoger: The current concept is a debacle! We have the means to go to these so-called shit holes (Third World) and educate them in the elementary arts of clean water, cultivation and livestock production etc! Do all of this in there court, not ours! The third world has been fouling our pathways with their baggage and skill-set lacking people. The migration of such people has taken a tremendous told on local governments. The real problem is the fact that our political driven party system has built an agenda based approach to enhance voting bases. The welfare is the carrot and plantation to cultivate new voters to maintain a socialism driven political party that the ambitious man is getting tired of!

Mister, you have a screw loose. God never implied that we should beggar ourselves and endanger our lives to help uplift those who needed help. The U.S. already does too much helping in my opinion. Good fortune falls upon those who help themselves.

Correct Peewee, and Nebuchadnezzar was driven from the land and ate grass like oxen, and his body was drenched like the dew of heaven, and his hair grew like eagle's feathers and his nails like claws of a bird.
I lived in Texas for 35 years, until recently, I saw how the illegals were. They have no respect for America, only what they can get for free. Some are decent, but most are not. They don't even try to learn English, you are to cater to them
in every way.
Trump is correct, we don't need anymore lowlifes here.

If we keep importing muslims we will be an eternally damned nation!

Little personal story on immigration for you.
First week of May, 1968, I was in "zero week" (before basic training started) at Ft Dix, NJ. In the group was a guy recently arrived from Italy. his name was Dominic Tessioni.
I asked him why he left Italy. he indicated it was a shithole run by communists/leftists.
Then I asked him why he joined the army. He told me it was to show his appreciation for the USA.
After a week of being run ragged by the drill instructors I asked Dominic how he liked the army now.
He replied. "I'm a sonofabitch!" <In his best Italian accent. I was ROTFLMAO. So here is to you Mr Tessioni. I hope your stay in America was a good one. Or, is your name on the black granite wall in D.C.

How selfish of you, to "prefer the Kingdom of Heaven to eternal damnation." It's always all about you, isn't it? You're not being "Christian" because you actually believe it is best to respect others, you are doing it only to get into the "Kingdom of Heaven", and not be "eternally damned." It's always all about you. Christianity, the most intolerant and childish of religions.

Other passages you could’ve used are:

Ezekiel 16:48-50, God compares Jerusalem to Sodom, saying, "Sodom never did what you and your daughters have done. She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me.”

Proverbs 14:31
“Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”

Proverbs 19:17
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.”

Matthew 10:42
“And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward."

Matthew 25:39
“When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'”

Matthew 25:45
"He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'”

All of these passages, and the one previously used, should show us that caring for those less fortunate than we are, is a “prime directive” from God. So, “IF” we’re to be a “Christian nation,” then why would we want to be so selective towards who we allow in? As long as someone isn’t a criminal, then, from these passages from Scripture, we have a “Christian obligation” as a “Christian country” to help these people come here and help them become productive members of society. Otherwise, we’re no better than Sodom and Gomorrah were. In fact, we’re worse.

All the passages you have used we do and have done. I didn't see the passage that says Thou shalt overflow your house with the poor and become like them until the food runs out. or Thou shall let politicians use the poor, needy, parasites, criminals, terrorists and anyone else that wants to come into your house for votes or cheap labor. Be nice if you lefty's gave near as much compassion to American citizens as you do illegals. We have the most magnanimous immigration polices in the entire world. Do you want open borders? Are you for everyone that wants to come here and stay,
can? I just don't get you people.
