Given the present trend toward ignorance and regression (in 'certain circles'), some are probably asking 'who is this 'Betsy Ross', and why do I care?'. Well, depending on your political outlook (because everything, and I mean
everything revolves around politics in 'certain circles', right?), you would either see her as an American patriot worthy of veneration or an enabler of tyranny, racism and oppression, deserving to be resigned the trash can of history. Oh, and economic inequality. Mustn't forget that. So, here's the facts, as yet not revised to take into account the alternative reality lived in by 'certain circles':
Elizabeth Griscom was born on January 1, 1752, in the bustling colonial city of Philadelphia. She was the eighth of 17 children (they were Quakers in an era before birth control and 'abortion-on-demand'. Go for it, feminists...).
"Perhaps the best-known figure from the American Revolutionary era (read racist religious bigot) who wasn’t a president, general or statesman (clearly a KKK member), Betsy Ross (1752-1836) became a patriotic icon in the late 19th century when stories surfaced that she had sewn the first “stars and stripes” U.S. flag in 1776" (read 'symbol of everything wrong, everywhere, ever). (Cue the howls of protest and anguished outrage, somebody mentioned 'Old Glory'.)
Here, you read it, I can't do this anymore:
