That got your attention, didn't it?

That's a real headline on Yahoo news this morning. Clearly Melania Trump is a heartless monster, just like her husband, right?

Isn't it amazing what a simple headline can do? What if you just saw the headline and didn't bother reading the associated article? Would that make you more apt to believe that she just wanted to change the view? Mmm-hmm, that's how rumors and innuendo flourish. Well, here's the whole story:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/melania-trump-orders-white-house-191700762.html

Ms Trump "personally reviewed the reports from the United States National Arboretum and spoke at length with her staff about exploring every option before making the decision to remove a portion of the Magnolia tree," White House Communications Director Stephanie Grisham told CNN.

Yep, a heartless monster who investigates unsafe conditions and works to rectify them before people get hurt. The people in the press, no less. Cue the righteous outrage in 3... 2... 1...

Saw the headline and passed it back a few times. I thought of all the possibilities, then decided to open it. I thought something must be wrong with the tree and decided to find out what. I did not think she would be malicious. I wouldn't think that of Michelle either since I really try to see the best in people until I am proofed wrong.

Has anyone considered the normal "life expectancy" for this type of tree?

It seems to me that the tree in question is slowly dying a natural death, from old age.

Thank you so much for posting this article in the way you did. It showed how the left works to lie, distort and misrepresent any story that they can to gain favor with the snowflakes.

It shows how the press seeks to draw attention to an article. If you want to bring a political twist to the issue you do just what you are doing with your statement.

It is the choice of the word ordered that was used.
If any other word could be used what would your choice be?

I would say that on this site we have too many people who wish to politicizes issues.
Put it down to nit picking.

It has been a slow time on here on this site the last couple of days.
We all pick out items to read & find something to respond to.

I am going back & pick out another one to read.
May be I will read something you wrote.

Have a nice day.

If not for the 'cabling', it would probably have collapsed long ago. According to gardenguides.com:

"The life expectancy varies among magnolia tree varieties. Most have been known to survive for 100 years or longer. The Southern magnolia tree lives an average of 80 years with some living up to 120 years". This one was planted in 1828 during the administration of President Andrew Jackson, nearly 190 years ago, so it appears to have had a good run.

Cutting a portion of the tree is good maintenance of the tree. In fact Jesus said ,that when you prune a tree, "it bears more fruit". That is why President Trump used the expertise of the Arboretum before making decisions. Cutting this tree is just caring like a child that when it needs help, the help be given.

If the tree is to let go forever without even taking care of its body that needs trimming, it will die. Consider a human being, when they grow old, they grow huge belly fat. That's not healthy for the body. Likewise, this tree as a living thing needs similar care in order to live long healthy and happy life for the good of all.

E.g. I own a rental apartment next to a public school property. Few feet away from the building, there was an old 100 ft tree on the public school property, next to mine. During stormy season, the tree brings down so many huge branches, and hurts residential homes nearby, especially my tenants living in the apartment. I warned the School District, wrote certified letter, with return receipt, about the damages it caused. I documented the events with pictures of the damages.

They City and School District refused to take down the tree, citing, nature and EPA protection. Then the following year, more powerful storm came and the 100 ft tree fell on the apartment building, that killed one of the tenants. I had all documents proving that the City and School district, had been warned about the dangers the tree could cause. The Court required the City to pay huge damages, including the damages to the victim who was killed by their tree.

This trimming of the Magnolia tree is the right thing to do. That is caring and protecting the tree as well as other people around. President Trump and the First Lady did the right thing. Thanks God he is our president!

Of course the headline was politically biased. If it were just a headline to get attention honestly, it could have said: "Reporters Rescued from Dangerous Tree" And still been far more accurate.

Well, isn't that an absolute classic? The EPA prevents the city (read 'school district') from maintaining an old tree, the out-of-control tree then succumbs to high winds and people actually die; so the city is forced to pay damages and compensation to the survivors, as though they were negligent in maintaining the tree in the first place. I suppose their lawyers worked for the EPA as well. The EPA, of course, did no wrong and will no doubt continue to 'regulate' the trimming of trees regardless of the dangers presented to the local population. Because 'EPA'. And 'trees'. Oh, and 'government'.

I, for one, happen to be pleased to hear of the efforts President Trump is making towards reigning in this despotic government agency, among many.

Just a an aside, and I'm no 'legal eagle', but as I understand it, an owner cannot be held accountable for damages due to high winds that cause high velocity impacts, regardless of the condition of the material before the event. Not in Florida, anyway, and we do know a thing or two about high winds around here...

Hell where I'm at in Florida you better not cut down a tree on your land without someone's permission.
